This was horrible.

I agree, this movie was horrible. I am a BIG fan of Michael Shannon and this movie was way beneath his immense talent. The character of Richard Kuklinski had potential, but in the end, I could not empathize with a guy who killed as casually as one would purchase a pack of cigarettes. He was a psycho with no redeeming qualities, except maybe his affinity for his family and this was decanted down to a guy with a sense of obligation v. a guy devoted to his family. True stories are often the most interesting to tell, but this one could have gone untold. Pass on this, and watch Revolutionary Road if you want to see why I developed such respect for Shannon's talent.

To dunemike for a recommendation where Michael Shannon is cast in something other than the brooding psycho, I highly recommend "Shotgun Stories". That's the movie that turned me on to this mesmerizing actor. No matter how crappy the movie is, it's hard not to stay focused on every scene he's in. Granted, this one wasn't great, but "Shotgun Stories" is magnificent filmaking and too date, I think, Michael Shannon's best work. I think you'll like it and his performance in it.

It's not a biopic. It's a story about its characters. Frankly I couldn't care less whether it's "true" or not. I guess crime ghouls will but I don't give a *beep*.

Have to agree, this storyline could have been fantastic. This movie was a disappointment. Shannon was great as usual though. He is very under the radar fantastic actor.
