Is he that strong in the comic books ?
I don't read the comic books, but I didn't think he was THAT strong. He lifted an entire submarine full of guys. That's like Superman strength. Is he that strong in the comic books ?

shareThat scene is taken right from the comics, and he has knocked superman on his ass before too.
shareI never thought he was that strong back in the 70s when I read comics. I had Brave and the Bold 142 back then where he was about the same strength as Batman. I assume they rescaled his powers at some point.

yes he is
shareHow did he become immune to swords and grenades?
shareHis body is immune to pressures up to several thousand psi. That makes him extra tough to punctures and gunfire. Even a grenade doesn't exert that much force.
shareYeah, basically the comic book science is that since his body can withstand the pressure at the bottom of the ocean it must be super durable.
