Yep - pretty much every single superhero origin story is the same.

Followup films are not that different either - baddie appears - superheroes unite (if it's superhero squad sort of film), evil gets destroyed.

The latest marvel squad film might appear different, but that's only because it's one film split into two, hence the 'shocking' ending. The second half will complete the formula.

I do like the latest Thor film though because it actually had a fair amount of humor in it - it was almost like a parody.
When those films take themselves seriously though - it's always same, same, same same.

I think superhero films really should try to be more original by tackling on other genres like horror, detective, comedy. Alternatively, superhero films could try turning really dark - sort of like what Fables comics did for the fairy tale characters.

Finally, I also liked X-men for being more grounded than other superhero films and taking a hard look at the themes of racism and discrimination (at least in the original animated series). The latest x-men films though .... are kind of like transformers - utter crap.

The word is, the latest spiderman tries to shake up the standard superhero formula - but I have yet to see it.

I'd say it's a cliche young adult fantasy story. Zero originality.
