They reveal that Lobo killed Aquaman and took his place, retroactively transforming Mamoa from horribly miscast to brilliantly cast.

Momoa was definitely born to play Lobo.

Who would’ve been the best actor to play the role of Aquaman?

I think Momoa would have preferred to play Lobo aswell. Atleast he said he was surprised that Snyder hired him to play Aquaman and not a villain.
