Why do people care so much about Molly? She's a whore.
She was clearly willing to give it up whenever Sherlock

shareYou're the reason we can't have nice things.
shareHer role was there mostly to bash the viewer over the head and scream "SHERLOCK IS AN ASPIE!!!!" I was totally aware of this and yet my heart still went out to her, so kudos to Louise Brealey for her excellent performance.
shareAgreed & seconded. Felt bad for the charactar, me, how much Sherlock ‘played’ & used her.
shareShe was the only totally original character in the main cast, and a good addition. Her human vulnerability set off Holmes's weirdness in a way that Watson never could, because if Watson is going to build a friendship with Holmes then he can't be deeply hurt by Holmes's inhumanity. It's all got to roll off of Watson's back so he can like Holmes, while Molly was there to show Holmes's everyday dark side (and to point out that he's really kind of dishy in spite of everything).
Which sounds depressing, but it wasn't, which is a measure of just how good the show's writing was for the first couple of years. Her scenes were played with enough humor that her scenes with Holmes made their points in such an entertaining way that I always perked up when I saw her appear. I knew something fun was going to happen when she was in the same room as Holmes.
