Who's the father? (Spoiler)

I've seen the movie and am still slightly confused as to whom the father is. I thought at first it was Jack's but then after both being referred to as the dad, I thought maybe they didn't get a dna test and decided to both be dads to the child.

reply

I saw it today. I think the father was Mark Darcy and they were just trying to confuse us. They filmed different endings and mabey used some of both.

At the wedding, Mark says something like "What are you doing to my son?" to Jack. I think they just stayed friends with Jack, and he probably feels some sort of bond with the baby since he spent a good portion of the pregnancy thinking it might be his.

I think the answer is blowing in the wind like the veil.

I think it's pretty clear that it is Mark Darcy. As he even says in the wedding scene to Jack"what are you doing with my son" or something to that fact. Not too mention in the third book Mark Darcy is the father of Bridget's two children.

reply

I don't think she told them. His remark would make more sense. Otherswise it would just be a crazy piece of exposition.

I really think it's Mark's baby if they're following the book

-Who is it?
-It's Grandpa. And it sounds like he's gotten into the horseradish again.

reply

Mark is definitely the biological father.. don't be confused.

Definitely? Are you sure about that?

Simple question, if it's Darcy's baby, then why is Jack still hanging around at the wedding. Conclusion it's Jack's baby, but she loves Darcy, and they came to some kind of gentleman's arrangement. If it wasn't Jacks then typically any other guy in Jacks place would have felt let off the hook, and he'd be over some green hill and far away...

reply

It's most likely Mark's baby, but remember, Jack was involved with Bridget's pregnancy until the end, so he's somewhat of a surrogate father or perhaps a godfather for the baby.

Don't assume because Jack is still there that he can't be part of their lives.

reply

Rubbish! Guys would be gone the very moment they were let off the hook.

reply

It's a movie. Get over it.

reply

You get over it you tit. This is imdb, if you don't get what imdb is about then why are you here?

reply

Wow someone's mad.

reply

You're a troll. I'm flagging you.

reply

Whatever floats your boat chief.

You implied that because a man is not the father of a baby shouldn't be a part of their lives simply because he's too much of a man to allow his feelings to be a part of it.

I'm saying that if he established a relationship during that time, then he would want to be a part of it. They may even name him a godfather.

I feel sorry for you if you don't want to keep an open mind about things.

Shame.

Your reply shows something about your character, or lack of. It is obviously Darcy's child for two reasons: He tells Jacks "with my son." and in the final scene of the film i.e. the crazy credits you can see Darcy, Bridget and the baby's photo which IMDB says shows the baby's father. With your tendency to run, you probably missed that part.

I think IMDB is here to offer opinions, not to call people names , like twit, when they disagree with you. You are probably the troll.

You're a tit...

Don't keep feeding the troll jrs.

It's obvious Danger has issues to resolve and refuses to allow others to comment on these boards unless it agrees with his viewpoint.

If we don't, then he gets upset and calls us names.

I feel sorry for him truthfully. I'm on his ignore list, and I could give a rat's ass.

He just doesn't know proper respect and etiquette on these boards.

He's a troll. Either that or he is a fruit loop. Either way he likes to lie....A lot.

reply

LOL lauren.

I think I like Fruit Loop better. :)

I saw the movie tonight and I think it's pretty obvious that Mark is the father. He says he's the father and I believe that Jack is the godfather because he and Mark became friends by the time Bridget delivered. Jack apologized to Mark and Mark said something like it's okay, don't worry about it. Then they were practically hugging in the hospital room in front of Bridget while she held the baby.

Although I don't think it would have mattered that much to Mark because he loves Bridget so much that any baby of hers would receive his love irregardless.

After the baby was born the doctor led them out of the room to take the DNA test. So they know who the father happens to be. The baby has Bridget's eye color and lighter colored hair. Jack's hair is very dark, and Mark's is lighter in color. Although I will say that many little boys' hair will change from blonde when they are young to reddish brown when they get older. An example of this that I'm aware of is David Boreanaz of Bones (tv show) who had blonde hair when he was young and whose hair is now a medium brown. My brother's hair went through a similar color change as he grew up. I also think they chose a baby who seemed to be brooding like Mark Darcy. He had quite the pout on his face.

reply

I didn't look into the facial features so closely, but Mark's comment about the boy being his son was proof enough.

And the fact we first saw Jack carrying the lad in the church meant that I just knew it would be Mark as the father she was marrying, since he'd be standing in the 'ready to get married' position.

"So they know who the father happens to be."

Not necessarily. Only if Bridget chooses to tell them the result.

Uhhh no. She can't keep their own test results from them.

reply

They don't have a legal right to know. She has. And she can choose to tell them. It would make sense that they both joke about being the father if neither knew.

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on who the baby looks like at the wedding. I'm pretty sure it was 2 different babies. The one in the church had shorter, darker hair. Outside, the baby looked to have longer much lighter hair.

reply

That was the stunt baby... He did all the action scenes.
