Question to people who have read all 3 books

Ok so at the end of the last film/2nd book Bridget and mark darcy are together and in the last book we are given the idea that they got married, had children and a wonderful life together (albeit for a short time). So I'm guessing this film is about her not knowing her the father of her baby is (maybe) or at least she obviously has other love interests. This just doesn't fit with the other books.
Also when I first started reading about the boy I was devastated that Mark Darcy wasn't in it. By the end of the book however I didn't care one bit because it was such a good book/love story. I'm gutted they have chosen to not make that book into a film. I'm guessing it's all because Mark Darcy isn't in it.

I've read all three books and loved them. I agree that the new movie should have been based on the third book. They could have shown Colin Firth in flashbacks. Oh well. I hope Hugh Grant makes an appearance :)

I have to confess that I didn't read the third book after I heard what happened to Mark. Is it awful that I don't want a Mark-less Bridget?

I spent half the 3rd book a mess of snot and tears! But it was very good! Still can't talk about it without getting a bit choked up lol. So part of me is glad they've gone a different way for the 3rd movie. But she better end up with Mark!

I had a hard time getting through book 3. It was a good book by the end, but like another responder said it was a huge snot-fest of tears. As a reader I almost felt cheated that book three started out after Mark died. In the first two books we cheer for her to find the right guy and then, when she finally marries him, we skip over all the changes, excitement, and drama that came with that short time with Mark. It would have been fun to read her struggle to adapt to marriage, pregnancy, kids, and losing her husband. Instead all we hear are a few memories of that time, and those were shrouded in grief and pain. I understand why someone might chose to go this way in the series, but I can't say I didn't find it a disappointment. This movie will hopefully fill that gap between books 2 and 3.

The third book was a terrible read. It had completely lost all charm of the first two books and just seemed completely unnecessary.

I think my main problem is that the picture I get from book 3 is that once her and Mark do get married it's all lovely and they have a baby and a family etc. But this third film is taking that away by making her have other love interests etc. I think it would have been fun to just see how she coped with marriage and babies and being a mum. I'm sure they could have made that be a good film lol
