Would you prefer that Bridget chose differently?
I had mixed emotions about Bridget's choice: Mark is her "soul mate" (?), despite everything they've gone through, while Jack is so cool. Would you prefer to see Bridget marry the other guy?

shareLike she said, Mark is perfect on Paper but for Bridget it has to be Mr Darcy. They
But I do wish the father was Jack, so that they could still be a family unit
I'm torn!
If she was my loved one and Darcy wanted to marry her, I wouldn't like it and think she was just marrying him because he was a rich lawyer. He's kind of a weirdo and if he worked at Walmart people would think he was a nut. He's very emotionally constipated.I'd be afraid he wouldn't love her properly.
The writing is good though and the implication is that he's a man of honor and a deep well, so he is profoundly good, but give this impression he doesn't know how to speak his mind. So, I can still see he's good, but if I met him I don't think I'd want him with my daughter or sister.
Meanwhile, the American guy was genuinely nice and very loving in his behavior. I thought maybe the story would be about getting rid of the past and moving on, but it wasn't.
If I was the American I would have been crushed by the events.
I loved Jack, but, Mark was really the only option for her it seems
They did seem close after a year as it seems Jack was Mark's best man strangely. I think it would've been nice if Jack was the father then both decent men won.
There really wasn't anything wrong with Mark, he wasn't a bad guy, he didn't treat Bridget wrong, he just worked too much. I think him throwing the phone out the window was him showing her that he was done with working so much. He was her soul mate and she still loved him, so I think her choice was not only right but also completely logical.
shareNo, Darcy is like an autistic person, that's what's wrong with him.
He loves Bridget but he doesn't even seem to entirely know it and doesn't know how to express it.
I think lots of women want to have some guy and teach him to say he loves her or bring it out in him but that either doesn't work, or when it does work, you don't know if he said it because you told him to. I was just talking to a female friend of mine last night and she was telling me about all of her friends demanding these things from guys. When they get them they aren't happy because they asked for them. A guy who really loves you and is emotionally mature, will make sure you know it and you don't have to ask.
So, Bridget desired a guy who loves her but will never develop into a person who spontaneously shows it. She is a person who is like that so that is NOT her soulmate.

I thought she had more chemistry with Jack. Darcy, I'm sad to say, disappointed me in this movie and didn't seem right for her.
shareNo, I would not.
Bridget and Mark are "reserved" characters, they are made for each other.
I would not forgive Sharon (the director) and Helen (the book author) if they had made a different ending for this movie.
I like Patrick in general and in this movie but that is another different story altogether.
I was scared the whole time (that Mark and Bridget would not end up being together) until the labor scene when Bridget hand looked for Mark's hand. What a relief!!!
I hated / hate Helen for "murdering" the Mark's character in the book Mad About a Boy.
I didn't see the other movies so judging strictly by this one without knowing the history, I thought the guy she picked had the personality of a cardboard cutout and was drier than toast. I was disappointed with how that ended.
shareThe ending was the only part of the movie I didn't like.
so bollocks is bad, but dogs bollocks is good?
She married the man she loved. What's wrong with that?
shareI think she's in love with the idea of being in love. She knows he a smug, pompous git who's never put her first, so choosing to waste more of her life on him just seemed stupid. Picking Jack and leaving Darcy to dwell on the fact he had his chance previously and blew it, would have been a much better ending.

Nothing, but disappointing for the viewer to see her hook up with a guy who's less interesting than dried paint.

it was only right she ended up with Mark, although Jack was lovely too. Difficult choice IMO.
shareno. hated the new guy. happy to see her end up with darcy
