So, who's the father?
Let's take an opinion poll.
My money is on Patrick Dempsey's character. I want it to be Mark Darcy's, obviously, but Colin is constantly typecast as someone who doesn't the girl.

I'll be so sad if it isn't Mark Darcy. He has become the code name for "ideal mate" between me and a friend as in, "Someday, you'll meet your Lord Darcy" and "Everyone deserves a Lord Darcy".
Of course, maybe he won't be the dad, but I hope Bridget is back with him by the end of the film or I'll be an unhappy camper!!!!π’π
You might be right! It will probably turn out that one guy is the father, and the other guy will end up being Bridget's boyfriend/husband/partner. So, she gets both men and the baby.
shareDaniel Cleaver ;-) now that would be a plot twist! But in all seriousness I really hope it is Mark Darcy because if not it will take away everything from the previous two films.

It would be "too happily ever after" if it is Darcy's, but it would be totally pointless if it isn't. On a personal level I hope it is Darcy's.
shareSomething tells me it not Marks, as he and Bridget were trying to have kids in the earlier films. I think?. So Bridge finds out who really loves her, Mark who takes her just as she is even with out being the real father. or Jack who only wants her because of the baby possibly being his. She will probably use that as a test in the end, and tell each of them that its the others baby, just to find out who really loves her. Crap spoiled the ending for myself. lol
Life is worth living
I just read a possible spoiler on another thread if you don't want to know don't read any further.......
Bridget is widowed (5 years) is now a 51 year old with two children by Mark, and has a toyboy

So I guess that clears that up!
I saw the film last night, and this spoiler isn't remotely close to what happens in the movie.
shareThat spoiler relates to the third book, by the way, which is entirely unrelated to the third film.
shareThat spoiler is from the next book. It isn't the movie. If they want to make a fourth movie, the child and later, children are marks and he dies.
shareI think it's Mark's baby and I think she ends up with Mark. I just have this feeling..

I feel like one of the photos from the movie's main page is spoiling it for us.
|But where's the ambiguity?... It's over there, in a box!|

Absolutely. I don't see the non-father kissing the baby's head.
shareApparently, it's not Bridget's baby and this scene happens early in the movie. Bridget and Mark are godparents, and that's how they get back together for a night again.
(I'm just repeating what I read elsewhere, not 100% sure if true.)

You are killing me! I'm so excited, and all reviews have been positive.
shareI'm not surprised the reviews are positive π My sister and I are planning to see it again, probably next weekend. My sister told me she enjoyed BJD, didn't really enjoy EoR (same here) but she loved, loved, loved BJB. I loved BJD (saw it many times, love the soundtrack and have the DVD on my tablet), was very disappointed with EoR (I thought Beeban Kidron made Bridget ridiculous), but with BJB we've got the real Bridget back, along with Jude, Shazza, Tom, Bridget's parents, Aunty Una, etc AND Mark Darcy π and every single second of it was fantastic πππ
shareJust saw it
ITS Marks'
DARCY! She marries Darcy and they raise a family together.
I'm thinking the movie may go with a "best of both worlds" direction. It's Jack's baby, but she and Darcy get married and raise the baby like their own with baby getting a daddy and a bonus daddy. Or vice versa.
Suddenly I have this thought:
Why did Bridget not make up her mind?
The 2nd movie (she still was unsure about Daniel) was not good, and now she still wants another man other Mark Darcy?
This is Helen Fielding's thing, the book's author.
Bridget always felt out of place in Mark's world as he's of a much higher class and is employed in a very serious profession (a human right's barrister). Then she felt neglected as Mark traveled the world as his career necessitated. She probably had a point. It seemed in the flashbacks that she spent a lot of time waiting for him at airports, and planning special evenings and he'd bring home work and his colleagues. He might have went through a time where he doubted her ability to be an appropriate hostess for his career. So it might have been a mutual parting of the ways. Then she left that note for him after they spent the evening of the christening together which told the story of how she always felt alone even when they were living together.
So Mark had married another woman and was supposedly unobtainable so why not move on to another man? Obviously her heart wasn't in it or she would have left some way for Jack to get in contact with her. She was still in love with Mark but probably felt they had lost their moment. Jack was very charming and eligible.
