I really enjoyed all of the "Columbo" board posters over at IMDb. I hope many migrate to this new board, as it really looks promising.

I think this board will be very resourceful once the site creator can take time to add functionality. He has gotten a lot of great suggestions and has said that he will be working on things like email notifications, thread nesting, etc.

Looking forward to carrying on the IMDb message board experience here!

I'm watching all the episodes again from the start, and I just finished watching 'Blueprint For Murder'. Apparently, this is the only episode that Falk directed! That's a shame, because he did an excellent job. I love how one of the main clues in this is musical in nature; classical vs country/western. Great script!

Agreed, Falk did a nice job on the direction of that episode. There were some especially nice shots around the construction site.

I also like the plot point you mentioned, about Columbo being perplexed as to why the radio station in Bo Williamson's abandoned car was set to classical music. After he learned that Williamson never listened to classical, Columbo began to wonder if maybe someone else had parked the car at the airport.

Does that include the ABC episodes or just NBC?

Both ABC and NBC. I prefer the 70's vibe of the originals, but some of the newer episodes are gems, too.

I didn't realize that Peter Falk directed an episode! I will have to look for it. Chances are I have probably seen it since I rarely missed anything of his!

I'm a die-hard fan who has seen many of the episodes several times. I was recently pleasantly surprised to discover an episode I had actually not seen before. I can't remember the name but it featured Dabney Coleman as the villain, an extremely high-profile criminal attorney who had never lost a case. The ending contained, IMO, a gaping plot hole pertaining to his alibi I've never encountered in a Columbo episode so far. Would welcome any response to this episode.

That was "Columbo and the Murder of a Rock Star". I've only seen that episode once, but I believe the "gotcha" was that the murderer was deliberately caught by a traffic camera, proving he was elsewhere at the time of the murder.

Columbo proved that it wasn't the murderer driving the car at the time, it was someone wearing a mask of the murderer's face. He used shadows to prove it was a mask.

Pretty shaky evidence, for sure, but what's the plot hole you spotted?

Thanks for your response , Blaine. Yes, you nailed both the title of the episode and my point. Namely, how could the perp have had his assistant who was blackmailing him after the fact of the murder be his alibi on the day of the murder wearing a mask ? He was alone in the planning of the crime.

At the time, when he had her wear the mask, she didn't know why. He just asked her to go drive on the freeway, wearing this mask, and be sure to get a speeding ticket.

It was only after the murder that she realized she had been the alibi, and THEN started blackmailing him. She was not a true accomplice to the murder, at the time of the murder.

Well, I knew she wasn't an accomplice to the actual murder. That makes more sense, somewhat. I must have missed that part because I don't remember it. If I get the opportunity in the future, I'm going to rewatch that episode.

I'm here! I have posted once or twice on the board. I mostly read the posts though. Columbo is my favorite cop show of all time.

I like this site too. I'm sure that it will get better. Look at all of the improvements that have been made in just this past week. The way I look at it, Rome wasn't built in a day, so I have no complaints.
I really appreciate the hard work that has been put into this. It's nice to be able to come here and talk to others.

Good to see you here, Margo! I agree, I think this board will really take off once some tweaks are made.

It would be nice to be able to attach an email address to our accounts in order to receive notifications when someone replies to a post. But I'm hopeful that will be coming soon.

Same! I'm old enough to remember when "Columbo"was first broadcast as part of the NBC Mystery Movie on Sunday nights back in the '70s, along with "McMillan and Wife" and "McCloud".

It's fun to be able to continue that tradition today.

I've been watching!

There's something special about watching Columbo on tv, rather than DVD or on-demand. I think it has something to do with sharing the fun of watching with others in real-time.

The ABC ones are on Me Tv, and I think The NBC ones are still on Cozi.

I wasn't a regular on the Columbo board at imdb, but occasionally...

...and I love coming to this board now.

Columbo was pretty much the only TV show I watched religiously during the 70's. All in the Family, Mary Tyler Moore, and MASH just sort of floated by me -- I liked them, but didn't love them. I could never really focus on the multitude of cop-detective shows out there: I wasn't a regular at Kojak or The Rockford Files or McCloud. But Columbo was a delicious once-a-month "party" of TV watching for me. It felt like a movie I would have paid to see, every time.
