Token black guy

Why do movies feel like they need to add at least one black character otherwise they may be labeled as racist? It is so obvious when you get a movie like this. 7 white college kids and one black guy just hanging out. His hair in dreadlocks. I don't know. It is just so obvious and it gets tiring when I see movies like this where it's obvious the only reason a black character was added was so they can say "see we have a black actor in here too". I see movies like this all the time. 6 white kids and one black. 5 white kids and one black.

Anyways, still thought the movie was hilarious.

What? Shut up, you're being silly. There was absolutely nothing there to suggest he was a special token character. ALL the college kids in this, save for Allison and the main bad guy, were token characters. Why do you focus more on the black one? To be honest, it says more about you than it does the movie. And weren't there a black girl in this too anyway?

Says a lot about you that my comment made you so mad. Why don't you take your own advice and shut up :-). Thanks!

That awesome come back is sure to shut me up good.

You're the one getting mad at someone's comments online. Weak skin much? Toughen up a bit, my god. Sensitive ass people these days

ftrembly made an excellent point that you completely ignored...

I would love for you to answer this instead of avoiding it like you did the first time around.

ftremblay is right, you should shut up and maybe work on being a better human being. The type that doesn't single out a character whose black and whine about diversity like some privileged a-hole.

In a movie that is parodying the sort of genre that gave us the 'token black guy' in the first place would it not be a bit stupid having not included one?
However, probably a lot less stupid than someone who would create a thread about it, though.

Were there any other obvious 'slasher' elements that bugged you with their inclusion? The campfire story? The inclusion of an abandoned mill, maybe?

Ya Kirk-loving Spocksucker!

reply

Yep all the above!! Thanks!

reply

There were two black kids.

Well this specific movie had all the typical clichés just because that is quintessental to what this movie is

A wrong decision is better than indecision

I thought it was a joke.... Making fun of the horror movies that do that.
