Shouldn't Kathleen Kennedy Be Charged And Arrested For Vandalism?

She seems to have a compulsive need to sabotage other people's IPs.

What is her problem? Did she not feel appreciated enough as the *wife* of one of the producers on WRITER/DIRECTOR Steven Spielberg and George Lucas's original franchises? Does she have a spiteful and insecure need, a tendency of hacks and mediocrities who find themselves in positions of immense power far beyond their own abilities, to ruin the work of genuinely creative people, by taking their work and destroying it, simply to prove a point?

What an utterly loathesome, useless, pathetic and parasitic individual she is...

reply

I don't think she's doing this out of actual malice or spite toward Spielberg and Lucas. She's just a leftist third wave feminist who got elevated to a position where she could crowbar her idealized, Mary Sue self-insert characters into beloved franchises, and watch those self-inserts proceed to outshine the legacy male heroes in every respect. She's what happens when a writer of bad fan fiction somehow manages to claw her way to the top of a major studio and make her personal Walter Mitty-type fantasies into mainstream motion pictures.

reply

Exactly!

No doubt someone will deride us as 'misogynists' but it's not that a I disagree with what she stands for (politically/ideologically-speaking). I don't.

It's the crass and heavy-handed way she's trying to crowbar her agenda into much-beloved IPs. She's putting her own politics and agenda ahead of her professional responsibility to the artistic integrity of these IPs, and that strikes me as rather selfish and narcissistic. If there's a decent way she can subtly implement her beliefs and ideals into these franchises, go for it, but it should NEVER be at the expense of the overall artistic integrity, quality and entertainment value of the IP at hand.

reply

The fact that she has been allowed to desecrate multiple legendary franchises so that she can peddle her ignorant, bigoted, basic bitch political agenda is a travesty, and will leave several nasty scars on the history of American cinema.

Kennedy, and everyone involved in the ongoing rape of Hollywood, must be severely punished for their crimes against cinema.

She is a living warning about the dangers of having women in positions of power.

reply

Okay, I think this is somewhat extreme.

Women and men should have the same opportunities and access to power as each other.

What I object to is talentless mediocrities being given the keys to the kingdom simply to vandalise it as they feel fit. That can apply to men as much as it applies to women.

reply

Kennedy is not just a talentless mediocrity, she’s a political ideologue with a ruthless man-hating agenda.

As a woman, she has been able to parasitise off capable and successful men for her entire career, and now it’s time to bite their heads off.

Giving her the keys was either a terrible mistake, or a deliberate act by cunning, evil men who want to destroy Western Civilisation. Either way, we can all now see what happens when women are given the keys of power - they are vindictive tyrants with no principles, decency, rationality nor wisdom.

^THIS!

This is nuts!

You are a misogynist and an extremist.

I do think Kennedy has an agenda, and I do think she's a narcissist who rode on the coattails of more talented people (who happened to be men), and is now doing the ungrateful thing of using that unearned power to impose her own agenda onto these successful IPs (which I think is a disgrace; political idealogues shouldn't be fucking up much-loved IPs for political reasons, whatever their politics). But it's ridiculous to damn all women because of the actions of ONE asshole. And it's ridiculous to see this as a concerted, planned-out conspiracy. It's simply one opportunistic individual promoted beyond their capabilities, who feels obliged as a woman to elevate her sex via art/entertainment, rather than understanding that the sanctity of art/entertainment comes before her personal politics, and if she truly wants to make a difference, she should go into Congress, rather than tinkering around with something many people hold dear, and has NOTHING to do with politics.

Nope. Just a realist. Women have plenty of admirable qualities but we’ve all seen what happens when they’re given power. You’ll also notice that I entertained the possibility that ‘evil men’ gave her the keys of power, so I’m equally prepared to acknowledge the shortcomings of males.

The notion that women are special, compassionate beings who are automatically superior to men is laughable. Ever seen The Apprentice or similar shows where women and men must form teams? The ‘fairer sex’ immediately start tearing each other down while the males quickly form functioning hierarchies that get the job done.

reply

Most of this is music to my ears, but let's not pretend men haven't desecrated many franchises as well with trash sequels/prequels. There are so many mediocrities in Hollywood regardless of gender.

But I guess one of the differences is that she is being allowed to continue, whereas a man no doubt would have been fired by now. Can anyone really deny that?

reply

Well, a lot of mediocre men have been allowed to go on for years making trash after trash.

On the other hand, I look at people like Kathleen Kennedy and Amy Pascal, and the terrible decisions they've both made (particularly the latter, not simply from a creative POV but in terms of her leaked emails badmouthing various celebs/colleagues, like Angelina Jolie), and I do wonder whether the oft-trotted out line that women rarely get as many chances as men, and women have to work much harder than men to succeed, is genuinely true...

It seems to be that there are assholes and mediocrities across all sexes, races and backgrounds, who are elevated to positions above their own talents. What I think it takes is simply arrogance and a sharp-elbowed sense of entitlement. It's very likely that those traits are generally more frequent among men, and that up until recently, systemic sexism/the patriarchy has made it harder for women, including talented women, to rise, but I certainly don't think that sense of arrogance/entitlement (which others will no doubt describe as 'self-belief and determination') is *exclusive* to men.

Also, to be fair to Kennedy, most of the Star Wars films she has overseen have been BO hits, despite the mixed and dvisive reactions they elicited (and I can't help thinking that some of those divisive culture wars reactions are exactly what KK wants...) Solo, ironically one of the better recent SW films, is the only one that significantly underperformed. However, if Dial of Destiny tanks critically *and* commercially, she may not get many more opportunities.

reply

If you look at the BO, there's been a consistent downhill trend since Force Awakens, and fan excitement is at an all-time low. You simply cannot sustain with mediocre products forever, and that's what KK is putting out.

The men we're talking about here usually move onto different projects. A single great film can be enough to build a career, because studios will repeatedly take chances on these directors for a potential next big BO hit or critical/cult smash.

But even a legend like Ridley Scott hasn't been allowed to make another Alien film after Covenant. KK on the other hand has been fully enabled to run Star Wars into the ground, and there's no sign of it stopping.

She never even had some kind of watershed moment that demonstrated her genius like these other creatives - once she was on her own and in control, her decisions have been consistently dogshit. She should have been ousted long ago.

reply

Oh there are plenty of evil woke males, it’s just that Kennedy has ruined the biggest franchises ever and just keeps going and going because anyone who challenges her will be branded a ‘misogynist’.

In the woke hellscape we now inhabit, women and minorities are given powerful positions regardless of their merits, and the results speak for themselves. Hollywood movies are now all dumb, bland, and stuffed with woke messaging.

Only figures like Tom Cruise, Nolan, Scorsese have sufficient clout to rise above and make real films. But for how long..?

reply

While I do love the idea unfortunately I doubt that’s possible. It’s a damn shame because she has now ruined 2 very good IPs. She never really accomplished much in her life, just rode the coattails of people far more talented than she is.
