Disney/Marvel Studios‘ Captain America: Brave New World has hit three-weekend tracking with a number that’s similar to what we saw recently, that being $95 million-plus over four days. The movie opens February 14 over the Presidents Day/Valentine’s Day weekend.

Tickets went on sale Monday, and we hear they’re currently pacing 15% behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which opened to $118M.4M. They’re also above Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ($94.6M 4-day) in addition to Black Adam ($67M) and The Flash ($55M).

The MOD at this dumb box office website locks this thread because the posters were discussing the problems with the Budget.. You believe that kind of shit?? Thank God the MODS here don't run this site like a Gestapo. This is what he posts:

Moderation:

"Locking this place up to end this insipid budget discourse. I will unlock the thread and will state some new rules here in a bit."

😂

And now this is his reply and answer to it:

Moderation:

"Okay, sent out the necessary warnings, and now I’m unlocking the thread. And just to clarify everything right here right now…

We are done with this whole budget discourse. If the trades say it’s 180M, then we’re taking their word unless there is irrefutable evidence that proves otherwise. So any talk further about what the supposed costs are? How huge the reshoots were? It’s over. Nobody is allowed to talk about it. Nobody will listen to each other, we’re going to continue to be in endless loops of fighting with everybody miserable. So why do it? Why argue about the costs and reshoots over a silly kids movie about superheroes? Does it really matter? No. It doesn’t.

I’m sure some are likely going to be upset over this decision, but as I always say: if you don’t like how this place is run? Or think it’s more important than breathing to bring up a kids movie’s budget? Well, we aren’t the only place on the Internet where you can talk about Marvel. So I suggest finding elsewhere.

Anybody wants to talk to me about this, you can talk with me privately. That is all."

MoronChat really needs this kind of moderation! Too many idiots making up shit because they don't like the facts.

That place is echoing Reddit. It goes to show anyone can go mad with power.

reply

I mean how on earth as a MOD do you tell your posters to cease discussing the budget of an upcoming movie or face being banned?? 😂

Thursday: Neither Los Angeles rain nor Northeast snow are keeping audiences away from cinemas tonight as Disney/Marvel Studios‘ Captain America: Brave New World, a continuation of both Disney+ series Falcon and the Winter Soldier and 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, is eyeing a $12M Thursday after previews which began at 2PM earlier today.

Where does that stack up to other MCU titles? Well, it’s higher than 2014’s Captain America: Winter Soldier which collected $10.2M in previews on its way to a $95M opening.

Friday midday: It’s Valentine’s Day and even though there aren’t any female skewing movies on the marquee such as Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, it’s still bound to be a big moviegoing day even though we have the dude-skewing Captain America: Brave New World. The Anthony Mackie movie is expected to do around $39M today, which includes last night’s $12M, on its way to a 4-day of $90M+. Three-day is around $82M-$84M at 4,105. Day one for Captain America: Brave New World is higher than the first day/previews of Captain America: Winter Soldier which came in at $36.9M.

Saturday: Disney/Marvel Studios‘ Captain America: Brave New World after a very solid estimated $40M Friday/previews has a shot at flying past $100M for the 4-day per industry estimates. The current range for the MCU sequel’s 4-day ranges between $95M-$109M. Disney hasn’t filed their numbers yet this morning, so these are estimates. The studio typically won’t call $100M until they see it, which would be by tonight.

However, hopefully word of mouth doesn’t bend Cap‘s shield as this is one of the worst CinemaScores for a Marvel character movie with a B- on par with Ang Lee’s battered 2003 Hulk which Marvel Boss Kevin Feige was an EP on (the pic was released via Universal before Disney even thought of buying Marvel). Note, Sony/Marvel’s Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter carry the lowest grades for a Marvel character movie with respectively a C+ and C. Brave New World‘s B- is lower than the MCU titles which fans turned cold on, i.e. Eternals (B), The Marvels (B) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (B).

SUNDAY AM: Marvel Studios‘ Captain America: Brave New World came in slightly better on Saturday with $27.5M from what we saw last night; this is from the extra ticket sales that roll into Comscore overnight. Rivals firmly believe that we have the first $100M opener on hand for 2025’s domestic B.O., and Disney believes that as well. Global opening is at $192.4M which is roughly $2M higher than where Nancy and I spotted it.

For a B- CinemaScore MCU movie — a $100M opening? We’ll take it. Very good job, Disney.

Box office stat firm EntTelligence says 5.7M people went to see Captain America: Brave New World over the 3-day ($88.5M) off average ticket prices of $15.17 (general) and $18.60 (general PDF). In regards to Saturday’s business, 51% of the crowd went to see Brave New World before 5PM.
