Awesome movie, about exploration and mystery of life (and the universe)

The incredible ambiance and atmosphere it pulls you in.
The visuals and effects are stunning.
The plot smartly developed and keeps the tension and mystery super high all the time.
The soundtrack absolutely brilliant.

The bad reviews are from Alien fans who were hoping to see xenomorph running everywhere like wild beasts killing humans like in the past Alien movies, so their ratings represent their disappointment of it not being a typical Alien movie, it doesn't represent the actual quality of this movie.

10/10

I wanted a better story, better characters, better acting, better music.

But it looked nice.

Ι wholeheartedly agree

I liked it, though I'm not quite sure the story actually works. Great science fiction imagery, though.

The story worked perfectly...though not a perfect, but a very good movie.
A fantastic idea who the Nephilim might've been. 🎡
Prometheus who brought the fire to humanity. 🔥
Explained at the very beginning. ♥

Very true.

Seriously? Bunch of facepalming scenes and that is all. Nothing like the teasers were promising.

I get that some people like it for the themes but this is nothing original. It is a big yawn if you were already exposed to these ideas. The plot rip offs "At the mountains of madness" (as does Alien) and because of Prometheus, Guillermo del Toro could not bring the book to the screen. It was basically the same story.

Yes the movie (as with most of Scott's films) is more an experience, almost like a dream , ethereal, poetic deeper stuff. abit like Alien meets Blade Runner by way of Chariot of The Gods. Not the run of the mill simplistic action fare (I wouldn't class 'Aliens' as that either as Camerons movies are similar to Scott's but with more action). In comparison Covenant tried to up the action (more 'Aliens' style to Prometheus' 'Alien') and introduced the xenomorph as a reaction to the negativity toward Prometheus but still retained that Scott otherworldlyness .

a couple of things let it down/gave critics ammunition: the 2 blockhead scientists (and their performances) and maybe Noomi Rapace I dont think was that great in the role (at times she felt abit like she was overacting idk not sure) but Fassbender, Theron, and Guy Pearce were all good. Curiously it was similar with Covenant the lead character (Ripley clone) wasnt that great. and there was a couple of dunderhead scientists (one of whom was Jessie Smollet lol. and McBride made it feel abit comedic) but Fassbender again was great, as was Billy Crudup and Guy Pearce again (bring me the tea David!)

It’s got nothing on the bible, which is the greatest exploration on the mystery of life.

I agree with those strengths, but you're ignoring the considerable weaknesses of the film - those scripting flaws are unforgivable and keep pulling the viewer out of the movie.

I think the hate for Prometheus largely comes from Alien fans who didn’t get what they wanted, but also because the good qualities of the film make the easily avoidable flaws that much more frustrating.
