Juilliard school scene

this scene alone should win her an Oscar, if not for political correct reason (bullying a minority, LGBTQ student, can't be showing that on the big screen). look closely at how her emotion changes along with the lines she delivers. She went from this patient, understanding teacher to an irritated, insulting bully when she stopped playing piano.
And the whole scene is done in one continuous take if i am not mistaken, the camera just follows her around in the class. Even if you don't like the movie, don't miss this scene.

Thought you might like reading this article that discusses the masterclass scene where she teaches at The Juilliard School ...

And here's some brief quotes regarding what the article basically has to say:

How TÁR Gives a Nuanced Take on Wokeness and Cancel Culture

Tár Is a Psychological Masterpiece

one scene in particular has monopolized the bulk of its media attention.

it forces viewers to keep an open mind by presenting both sides of the ideological divide without ever outwardly demonizing either.

the film paints a disturbingly realistic picture of where society is at the moment whether its depictions find favor or not.

what is clear is that its game-changing take on modern culture may become an example for other pictures to expand on.

My favorite line from the scene is after he calls her a bitch and is leaving she tells him that

"The architect of his soul is SOCIAL MEDIA,".

And that remark is made due to the way that he claims Bach isn't worth his time to study, due to the way he considers him to be what he calls a "White, Male, Cis Composer," which he sees as being at odds with what he describes as being his "BIPOC Pangender" identity.

At which point she says "NARCISISSM of small differences leads to boring conformity" and to what she sees as being his "ULTRASONIC EPISTEMIC DISSENT."

So bascially this guy wants to be a composer or conductor and refuses to explore the work of another great composer due to the way that he's produced 20 kids (back during a time before birth control or the option of abortion was available)???

And then he calls the woman a BITCH who attempts to teach him why the work of Bach IS worth exploring (no matter how many offspring he produced)???

The scene definitely reminds one of the kinds of situations that one encounters here at MC ... where one also gets the feeling that "The ARCHITECT of the SOUL" of others that one engages with is also "SOCIAL MEDIA."

The first time I saw this film I switched it on right at the beginning of this scene. About 3 or 4 minutes in I realized "Holy shit, this has been one take the whole time." A great scene from a great film.

From what I heard, most of this film is crap, but that scene is spot-on for what's wrong in today's society.
