Decline

I have more respect for entrepreneurs that decline than accept most deals. A lot of these sharks are looking to bulldoze you out of the water and most are stupid enough to accept their extortions. I appreciate the ones with some real guts who are willing to walk out with their livelihoods and true evaluation of their business, hard work, sweat and tears than someone who’s willing to get stampede.

I agree. I mean it's great to see someone get a deal but when they are smart enough to decline I admire their self-confidence to continue on their own.

But the verbal agreement for the show means nothing.
Negotiations still go on behind closed door.

These later years in the show, I think the deals they offer the entrepreneurs are simply dreadful. Everybody's trying to one up in Mr. Wonderful in being a shrewd dickhead.

reply

But also, a lot of the ideas are simply dreadful.

I don't know how most of these are passing through to air.

reply

I don't watch this regularly, but the ones I do watch have people pitching a product and asking for $50K - $100K for 10% ownership. When they say they need the money to ramp up production to meet demand and they can triple their business why not just go to a bank and get some cash flow loan instead?

I rarely see anyone who just has a concept, and most of them already sell their product directly from their webpage or Amazon/Etsy/eBay store so it's not like partnering with a Shark really grows their business.
