Re-watching the show, Claire is clearly a very attractive and intelligent woman with a high earning potential, a good work-ethic and sense of organization. Meanwhile Phil is kind of stupid and while he looks okay, he is certainly not oustandingly handsome or athletic.
Did he luck out by landing a wife so far out of his league?
Phil is good-looking, loving, funny, and makes a good living as a realtor. Look at the house they live in--in L.A. it's probably worth a few million. She is not out of his league in any way. That being said, however, he is kind of an idiot.
