Lily = The worst actor I've ever seen

Her delivery.. her timing.. everything is just horrible!

How did she land this gig? The other kids out-perform her tenfold..

I like all of the child characters on the show, including how they act. (Well, I'll admit to putting Joe at the bottom of that list.) I don't want these characters to be pitch perfect on everything that say and do. We've watched them grow up as they are, and I've enjoyed the writing for them and how they deliver it. IMO MF has the kids acting and speaking EXACTLY how they want them to.

Given that, I can understand how some characters, especially the three male actors, could be seen as grating. Manny for example used to be my favorite but they need fresh storylines for him (and Luke too).

Are you kidding me? Those droll lines roll off her tongue like a pro!
It's tough casting kids. They scored with Haley. Alex seems adrift, like she's forced to be on the show. She was great as a kid. The boys are OK. Joe is too young to have a part, or know how well he will fit in. (but the show will live or die on the kids journey to adulthood). But once Lilly was given a voice, she has been the funniest of the kids. She's like a little adult!

They roll off her tongue? You mean in that halting, strained, labored, tin, wrung-out-of-her way?

Maybe you can tell me why people are so afraid to admit that lily is a horrible actor who should get a different line of work.

She's unwatchable.

reply

I laughed so hard. I'm not a fan of her portrayal as well.

If you type "lily modern family b" into Google, "lily modern family bad acting" auto suggests. That should be enough for you bleeding heart defenders of her.

reply

But if you type "lily modern family z" into Google, "lily modern family Zima" auto suggests. That proves nothing except Lily also drinks Zima, I guess.

I agree she cannot act, but your argument does not hold water.

You are talking about when google guesses what the next word you're thinking of could possibly be, when your search inquiry doesn't match any previous popular searches. I am talking about when it shows the entries that people have actually searched for, to choose from. "Lily modern family bad acting" is a choice based on what people have often already searched for. So it proves a lot of people have typed "lily modern family bad acting" into Google.

I take it that OP doesn't have a very broad range genres to watch? I have definitely seen worse actors than Lily, most of them are white teenagers.

reply

Name one kid who has had a regular role for around 7 years who has basically made no improvement whatsoever..

Likewise, I've never seen a worse actor. I wish they would think of a way to write Lily off the show. I don't care how ridiculous the story is, as long as it takes her off the show. Send her off to college at age 9. Or just "Poochie" her:

Cam: Hi, Lily. You look like you've got something to say. Do
you?

Lily: Yes, I certainly do! I have to go now. My planet needs me.

Lily being from another planet would actually be halfway believable, since she doesn't speak like any Earthling child. Make it happen, writers!

Or keep the Lily character and just replace Aubrey Anderson-Emmons (even her name is annoying) with a different actress, like they did with Becky on "Roseanne." Who would complain? Literally anything would be better than continuing to allow this actress on the set. She's... so... bad!

reply

Lily died on the way back to her home planet.

Lily is one of the funniest characters on the show, and the actress who plays her is brilliant at it.

I TOTALLY AGREE.
