So what's up with the black void?

Okay, so from my understanding, Scarlett Johansson is portraying an alien disguised as a female human, who's come to earth (Scotland) to observe and understand the human species. That part I understand. But what I don't understand is her need to lure men into what's apparently referred to as 'the black void'. First off, where is this void? At an apartment? In a building? Where was she taking these men exactly? I mean, it's never really explained where she (the alien) lives or resides at. Secondly, what is the void? What's the purpose of it? And why only men?

I find this film really fascinating. I've watched it quite a few times. But I need this black void question to be clarified.

Thoughts? Theories?

Only men because they are easy prey. Only fairly muscled men because they have better meat. The liquid/void was a means to stabilize and debone the prey.

Whoa...so wait. The aliens needed humans as a source of food?

reply

Needed..needed.. I think it's a delicacy for the rich.

reply

I understood it as the black void consumed the humans and that they were food for the Aliens.
I know we only saw men being consumed - because we're dumb enough to get in a strangers van when driven by Scarlet Johansen (I probably would) - but perhaps the other, apparently male(?) aliens - were preying on the females of our species?

reply

I ain't gonna lie...I'd probably jump in the van with Scarlett as well. Lol

reply

I'm armed so I guess I'll get in the van.

"The black void" is a pool of Coca-Cola.πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

I didn't think the void and pool were meant to be taken literally. C'mon, seriously... any dude with an IQ over 25 is gonna look at that and nope out, no matter how horny he is. This film has arty pretensions, to me it was an "arty" way of showing she had lured them to the ultimate dark void - death.

They seemed hypnotised. I took it literally.
