Why did Deformed Face escape?

What freaked her out, and how did Deformed Face get away?

reply

I was about to ask the same question. It seemed (obvious) to me that she couldn't discern social stigma/ridicule. She didn't seem aware of his plight.
Maybe he presented a different emotional yearning than the other men. The other men were purely lust-driven.

reply

I was thinking he was too alert. He knew better than others what a trap was and didn't walk into the black oil. The interior dimensions of the house was too large. He may have noticed and left.

reply

Thats another possibility.
Seems more likely than my theory.
A real freakish part of the film, with the ending topping it by a small margin.
Btw, what exactly was that black liquid substance?
It looked like oil, but the texture was too much of an anomaly.

reply

What film were you watching?

He DID walk right into the black liquid and he disappeared too, S.C character changed her mind and freed him.

He was a freak, like her, and an alien to this world, like her, there was a kinship, so she sympathized and decided to let him go. (after watching a fly struggling on the window for a fourth-night).

The black goo was some kind of digestive-system, think meat-eating plants. Bug drops into the goo, cannot get out, gets dissolved slowly by enzymes, the end.

How hard is it to understand these obvious points? (and I did watch this movie at 4x speed).

reply

You watched the movie at 4x speed? Well, then you must be an expert, and someone really appreciates cinema. And I be your attention span is so short that you probably won't make it to the end of this sentence..

Fabio Testi is GOD

reply

I didn't see him walk in.

reply

Well, he did.

Later you can see him running down a grassy hill in the buff.

Even later, the motorcycle-guy catch up to him and knocks him over the head (to throw him back into the liquid I assume).

reply

I remember the motorcycle guy at the house breaking the glass on the car. That woman looked out the window.

You really should read the Trivia section.

reply

I know it is hard to stay awake when you watch this film, but did you also drink?

A summary of the weird-face guy's fate:

"One man that the alien encounters on the road is one with a disfigured face due to a condition called neurofibromatosis. She picks him up and gives him a lift. The alien asks the man when he last touched someone, and if anyone has touched him. He is nervous and uncertain as she takes his hand and lets him caress her face. She takes him into the unknown location and has him strip to nothing. She too is also completely naked. She lures him into the liquid, but later, she lets the man run out. The man is found by the motorcyclist and is killed."

reply

although he was taken anyway, i think it was a simple case that she knew that since they were harvesting skins presumably for others like her to live in, she took from the encounter that he didnt want to be in his own body and thus, neither would any of her fellow alien beings so she released him, or tried to, on that basis

reply

Near the end of the movie we can see the alien wanted to be like us, humans. He tried food, tried sex. I got the feeling that the alien felt like he was ugly and really got attached to the pretty face she got as human. I believe she felt compassion for deformed face, as she somehow knew what it was like to have a face like his.

reply

not so sure about that, to me thats the equivalent of a human thinking a monkey is more beautiful than another human

surely, beauty being subjective, with these aliens having no prior experience of humanity........the way they look and are is as totally normal to them as the way we are is totally normal to us and thus it would not make sense to me that the alien would find what is inevitably an alien species more attractive than their own kind? it would be equally as likely that a human would think itself to be ugly and prefer the beauty of the alien if that be the case

as far as trying the food........yes that was clearly out of curiosity for the species

but to me, its not so much curiosity as madness, or going off the rails.........there is no other species that i would rather look like, that id try the food and be curious to having sex with, i dont see why that would change from a new species from another place being introduced to the equation

edit: lets not forget that to them, we are merely a food source, they have come here with the intention of farming us....would you want to look like a cow? eat grass like a cow and have sex with a cow? its no wonder that the male motorbike alien guy was trying to track her down

reply

I got the impression the 'machine' rejected him, but maybe it was her?

reply

No, she let him go, demonstrating that she was starting to develop empathy towards 'others' who are also 'outsiders'. I totally agree with what imdb poster Znapper wrote a few posts above:

"He DID walk right into the black liquid and he disappeared too, S.C character changed her mind and freed him.
