Why are there so many blacks in this show?

not that there's anything wrong with it.
I'm on episode 12 so far. I noticed there's a large proportion of black actor/actresses in this series.
This is not the Los Angeles that I remember.
If the demographics is correct as follows...
White: 49.5% (Non-Hispanic Whites: 29.4%)
Black or African American: 9.9%
Native American: 0.6%
Asian: 10.4%
Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander: 0.2%
Some other race: 26.5%
Two or more races: 2.9%
Hispanic or Latino (of any race): 48.4%

we would see about 1/2 of the casts as Hispanics right?
at least more Asians than Blacks

So this dude brings up a legitimate reason for the show being unrealistic and unrepresentative of the place it is set and everyone just gets all fidgity and implies that he must be a huge racist. Yeah, seems about what I was expecting to see.

But as for an actual answer to the question in place of speculation as to the asker's motivations...

Yeah, this show clearly was never concerned about our intelligence being insulted. I don't know why anyone would have expected them to do any kind of basic research, I mean, they had a posse of Arabs with the ex-marine spying on a heavily fortified military operation from like 30 feet away, behind a small rock, with a giant hummer parked in the background; if you can swallow that sort of absurdity I don't see the point in picking apart a show's trueness to reality in regards to racial demographics, lol.

Very few implied that the OP is a racist. We just don't get why the OP felt the need to mention something so pointless, if he felt nothing was wrong with it. For those who did imply, can you blame them? The OP didn't talk about his personal experiences on the Los Angeles that he remembers. He quoted wiki stats.

Legitimate reason? In a TV show about the entire world blacking out simultaneously for the same amount of time and catching glimpses of their future, it's race that legitimately makes the show "unrealistic?" What about the blackout? The glimpses into the future? Sure the show was set in Los Angeles, but only in a small part of LA. Not all of LA which the statistics represent. LA runs wide.

If the OP just took the time to look at the full cast list, this topic wouldn't exist. You know what. Yes it would have. This is IMDB after all.

Some people just see what they want to see.

This has got to be one of the dumbest questions I've seen on IMDB, and I've seen some pretty dumb one. Why when people bring up race they always start with, "not that there is anything wrong with it", obviously it's in your consciousness that there are 'too many blacks for normal TV', that isn't BET, or you wouldn't care like most people who watch this show with color blind goggles. Why don't you ask why are there so many white shows on? And if I said why aren't there any black people on this show, I would get flammed all up and down this board. Now get out of your little bubble and into the 21st century.

It annoys me that the casting for shows often over-represents black people and under-represents Asians and Hispanics tbh.

Be happy that they're representing minorities at all! Seriously? As much as other groups have been overshadowed by white actors, you're complaining about black people? lol ok

I hope you pass a kidney stone the size of a golf ball
