Any similar movies to Submarine?
I loved this movie and British films are the best! Can you suggest me any movie that is like Submarine. With the same direction and story or anything. Thanks!

The film I was thinking of all the way through Submarine was Harold and Maude. The boy that plays Oliver even looks like Harold. It has the same quirky, offbeat feel.
It's not British, but it is a classic. You should check it out if you enjoyed this.
I too thought the main character was very much much like Harold and was wondering whether he was the inspiration for him.

Anyway, Harold and Maude as the other guy said, Rushmore is also a good one, The 400 Blows is about a young delinquent kid, I thought this was quite indebted to it, it's French though. The director mentioned Badlands and Taxi Driver and a few of those kinds of 70's American films as being an influence, not so much in story but probably style, use of natural lighting, Badlands does have this hazy timeless dream feel to it to, but it's quite a heavy movie. None of those are British, a good British film about a young man is Saturday Night & Sunday Morning, about a young lad in Nottingham and his many affairs with local women. Great film with an excellent lead performance.

Look up Wes Anderson, the director. Watch those movies. American, very similar in style and in my opinion, a lot of them are way better.
