was this show finally cancelled?

this is such a dumb and pointless show. it's like watching a dumb you tube video. if this guy daniel tosh has any talent then he should not be on this show and should do real comedian things like be on tv shows make movies and other things.

Why do you care? It’s not like you have to watch it.

It was actually renewed through 2024 (a year before Tosh turns 50). This is despite its average audience going from the millions in the early 2010s to under 500k in the most recent season. Ordinarily, that would be enough to get a show cancelled, but Comedy Central shows have been taking a hit across the board. Even flagship shows like The Daily Show and Southpark can't pull over one million viewers (only SP even comes close). Its a bit weird seeing a guy coming up on 50 doing that frat guy schtick for a dwindling audience, but apparently Comedy Central doesn't think they can find anything better.

I didn't realize the numbers were so low.
I don't watch it religiously but when I catch it I enjoy the episodes.
Good for him.

Also, am i the only one that feels like Ridicouulsness stole his concept.

Comedy Central cancels Tosh.0 months after a four-season renewal

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/tosh-0-canceled-as-comedy-central-reverses-4-season-renewal

Daniel Tosh's pop-culture show will end with a 10-episode Season 12 this fall. The cancelation comes after Comedy Central renewed Tosh.0 in January for four seasons, through Season 16, and signed Tosh to an overall deal. The renewal for 80 episodes would've taken Tosh.0, which premiered in 2009, through 2024. Tosh.0 is the second Comedy Central show to be canceled in the pas despite being renewed in the past 24 hours. Drunk History was canceled Wednesday after six seasons despite its Season 7 renewal. The cancelation comes as Comedy Central is focusing more on adult animation, topical series like The Daily Show and comedic made-for-TV feature films. “I look forward to doing an animated reboot of my show on MTV in 25 years,” Tosh said in a statement Thursday, joking about Comedy Central's recent reboots of Beavis and Butt-Head and Ren & Stimpy. Tosh.0 ranked as the No. 1 show for men ages 18-34 for every year that it was on. According to The Hollywood Reporter, ViacomCBS will help Tosh shop his show to other outlets.

yes, finally, he's not that funny and his shtick gets old fast and he's really annoying most of the time with his cynical, look at me, negative humor. i'm really relieved he's going away finally just like i'm really relieved chelsea lately's talk show finally ended and ellen.

There's probably a good chance that a different network picks the show up. It costs practically nothing and was still somewhat popular.

reply

thanks for making me feel bad. he's a hack comedian and is a one note comedian with little talent and is obnoxious and juvenile, immature, and annoying.

reply

Lol that wasn't my intention. I understand if you don't like him. I have hardly watched the show, but I actually found the videos themselves funnier than his commentary. But, yes, it is certainly juvenile humor.

this was the only decent show on the channel other than south park. watching trevor noah is the real dumb you down show with all its political propaganda shoved down your throat. tosh is just funny jokes and entertainment throughout its hilarious. its exactly what tv is supposed to be good fun

It is cancelled. It was a very good run, probably beyond Tosh's wildest hopes when the show first started. I don't know where he goes from here, but he could probably make a very good living just doing stand-up with the occasional special. I suspect he may continue Tosh.0 or some variant of it on a streaming platform, Either way, his future is set, even without the show.

The future is much murkier for Comedy Central. From the linked article:

"The cabler's new strategy focuses on three areas of content: adult animation, topical series (The Daily Show) and comedic made-for-TV feature films. McCarthy has been aggressively mining the company's vault and rebooted animated series including Beavis and Butt-head, Ren & Stimpy and picked up a Daria spinoff, Jodie, as part of the strategy"

That does not sound like a promising path forward. They cling to topical series, perhaps hoping for a return to the days when The Daily Show and The Colbert Report each pullied in millions of viewers, but those days are long gone and likely never to return as the internet has increased the options available to consumers. Under Trevor Noah, The Daily Show's average viewership has dipped below 500k (not much higher than Tosh.0 ratings) and they have Noah locked in until 2022 and I don't expect any improvement in his ratings until then. They have tried and failed to replace Colbert with Larry Wilmore, Jordan Klepper, and David Spade) and all have been cancelled in short order. Nor do I think a reboot of Beavis and Butthead is going to save them. While it was a mainstay a mere 10 years ago, Comedy Central no longer has anything to offer, and I don't think it will still be around five years from now.

It got 12 seasons. It looks like your opinion is in the minority.
