started out promising, but turned into silly procedural crap

A waste of all that acting talent, IMO.

Yup, it’s extremely disappointing. The first few episodes were really good and then they turned it into Law and Order basically instead of telling a story. Also, it’s so unbelievable that she witnesses a murder every week.

I always felt that was the problem with Murder, She Wrote, and it's been mocked by comedians ever since!

But at least Charlie in Poker Face is "on the move", so it's not like there's a murder every week in sleepy Cabot Cove, MAINE! That town quickly became the highest murder rate per capita, in the world!

That's the concept of the show and I have no problem with that whatsoever. Not every show has to have an ongoing storyline like some kind of nighttime soap. I don't understand why people insist on that. What was a problem is that the show went on too long and that every episode was a restart without any character development for the main cast.

Suspend your disbelief and you'll enjoy it more than you'd think.

reply

Nope. Just stopped watching E05 as she happens to read the checklist and notices the bolt missing. I've deleted the season and am not likely coming back to the show.
Also, her shtick has worn out.

reply

Deleted the season, then proceeded to the forum to talk about it. That makes sense.

reply

Thank you.

You're referring to Episode 6, Exit Stage Death

reply

I agree with this statement. it's just a FUN show with a great and creative way of doing a typical mystery. She's a hoot, I really enjoyed it.

reply

I think it's a fun show and most of the individual stories were pretty entertaining. Not everything has to be presented the same way.

reply

Agree 💯. Beginning was interesting. Turned into a modem day Colombo. But at least with Colombo being someone that works in the field it would make sense to come across a lot of murder. This girl just happens to stumble across a murder everywhere she goes. And it just seems to get more and more silly and unbelievable. And the coincidences that occur becomes dumber and dumber.

reply

OP. Did you finish the season.

reply

I did.

It didn't improve the impression I started getting by the middle of the season, though.

reply

Fair enough. I found it to be a pretty good show. To each their own.

reply

It's no sillier than Columbo showing up to what appears to be an accidental death while the body is still warm, and immediately focusing on the murderer. Or the characters in Cheers being at the bar from morning to night, and the owner/staff leaving on a whim any time a fun or important opportunity presents itself. Or the staff at Abbott Elementary spending more time in the break room or in the halls than in the classrooms.

There's a reason these kinds of shows are well-loved; they're fun. I personally like the occasional escapism of "silly crap" as a much-needed break from all the rest of the serious crap going on in life.

And, IMO, the talent is put to good use. But you know you better than I do, so as they say, you do you.

Poor illogical writing is not entertaining to me.

Besides, I don't watch procedurals, period. I only started watching this show because it started out like a promising story, but it turned out to be disappointing.

reply

You disappoint yourself by only sticking to non-procedurals.

That said, I can't stand Lyonne, so I'm skipping this one.
