Question about the ending
Did the mother really hate her unborn child or did the(Boringly, without any nuance written)husband lie?
shareDid the mother really hate her unborn child or did the(Boringly, without any nuance written)husband lie?
shareHe is a sadist, it might be OK for her to suffer through his manerisms, but not a child. And worst case the child would even become him. Enough reasons for a mother to end her life.
shareYeah... Mummy foresaw that her child would grow up to be a lisper who's a 6 even with the aid of plastic surgery, with almost zilch in the way of tits, then promptly began to despise her offspring. It's tough to fault her
sharePS. The movie was great until the ending which felt rushed and lacked any nuance whatsover. Would have also liked to have known more about the mother.
shareShe hated her baby and her life. Why else would she commit suicide by jumping off a bridge into a freezing river?
shareObviously she hated her life. That doesn't automatically mean that she hated her baby.
shareWhatever you say.
shareShe hated her life and didn't want her child to share this hate. I doubt she hated the baby, but there was no way to escape that guy. Back then it was much harder to leave a husband, especially if he was so powerful and rich. His servants were no slaves and had no love for him, they also stayed because of other reasons.
shareOkay whatever. It doesn't really matter all that much to me anyway. Interprete it whatever way you want. I was just answering CMX's question, but I suppose that he didn't like my answer. Neither do you. But it's fine with me. I don't care enough to sit a speculate and debate or whatever.
shareI assumed the mother was unhappy with her life in general and saw her unborn child as perhaps as yet another individual who would suffer living with her awful husband. Maybe she thought killing both of them was a mercy.
