shareI think it was the director letting you know early on that this is the kind of movie it is, and it's weird. Kind of like a warning shot in the first 5 minutes.
It's not from her point of view because Dafoe does it in front of the simp without her there.
That was the weirdest thing in the movie for me. There is a later scene when he is explaining something about his liver to his medical student Max McCandles but I wasn’t sure if that was related to the bubbles.
