How would it ruin the show? It likely will happen next season. Every plot line that's been alluded to has come to fruition throughout the show.
shareWell, have you seen the season finale today and the screen time spent on dealing with their relationship? It is cringe-worthy and not fun to watch, they both act like they have the emotional maturity of 8 year olds, it is very predictable writing. Like you just know next season Janine will come back ready to date Gregory but he will be involved with another woman by that point.
It's all just very been there done that cliché fest and the other storylines are far more entertaining than watching these 2 drips slowly come together over the course of 5 seasons with all the already played out and exhaustingly familiar beats. Like how they will try to hide their relationship in the beginning only for everyone to find out eventually. Parks & Recs already did that years ago, we don't need a retread here.
Superstore, The Office and all the other shows have also had this similar plot line of the couple hiding. Even though it's likely that Abbott Elementary will follow the same path, at least give them credit for some of the more unique story lines like Janine's mom.
