Was it publicized at all? I'm a big fan of Dashiell Hammett and Sam Spade, and I knew nothing of this show until just now. Perhaps with publicity it may have done better? When did it air?

I had never heard of it. I happened to watch Maltese Falcon the other day and did a quick search for other Sam Spade movies and this popped up. I would never have heard of it otherwise.
