This is the best they could do?!?!?! (spoilers inside)

After all these years they still didn't know how to give the show a proper ending and the best thing they could think of was to rehash the basic premise of Season 7.

Trying to do what was supposed to happen at the end of Season 7 is some of the laziest things I've ever seen. It's not any different from sequels that ignore previous movies just because they didn't really work. This is Terminator Dark Fate level of bullshit.

I sure hope this is the end and I will happily ignore it since it didn't improve on the original ending which, although botched and lacking, at least made much more sense. Even despite Dexter spiriting away Deb's corpse without anyone noticing.

Nothing to see here.

Good point. The series should’ve ended with Deb shooting Dexter.

La Guerta and Deb would be alive and Doake’s name is cleared. Harrison would have been raised by Deb and probably would be better adjusted.

You make it seem like it was a bad season - only the last episode really sucked for crappy writing.
Anyways, Dexter is gone to swim with the fishes - all is good.
