The Thing That Confused Me

The age difference between Marnie and Ben? Why is it so big? There's a two year age difference and then a big one. I do understand age differences like that happen in real life, but was there a purpose to it in this movie?

Wow. Everyone really missed the main question of this post. haha. I think the only real spot where it affected the plot was with the tree house. He's still young enough and at home to use the tree house so he would get mad that Will would take it. Plus younger kids are always funnier.

Maybe it's just nepotism in action. I hear Hollywood's motto can be expressed by the slogan: "We promote family entertainment around here almost as often as we promote family."

My Husband has 3 sisters, they are aged 40, 38 and 4. My Husband is 30, plus he is going to have another brother or sister next month. I have a uncle who is 9 months older than me and a aunty who is 2 years younger than me, and they are my blood relatives.

He was a senior when she was a sophomore. That's not a big age difference. Unless I missed something. o_O

Also it can be because of messed up psychological issues. Two kids get into their teens, they don't hug and cuddle Mom anymore, so Mom wants that cuddle. She doesn't have the sense to get a puppy, so another baby is born.

reply

Oh yes, that's exactly it. *rolling eyes*

A two year age difference is a bigger deal when you're a teenager than when you're an adult. And given how Marnie is visiting home and coming face-to-face with her nightmare of a past, her mind has subconsciously slipped back to her teenage mentality.

And the other funny thing is that James Wolk who played Kristen Bell's(Marni's) older brother is actually about 5 years younger then her.
