Word on the net is that this film is absolutely horrible.

Like ridiculously bad;
- We're talking a strong favorite for worst film of the year.
- Like a direct-to-dvd horror film that the studio rushed to keep the IP rights (like some of the later Hellraiser efforts).
- Like a bad fan film.
- Like a shitty syfy channel original.
- Apparently almost the entire film is shot on blatant green screen. (This film doesn't have the budget to do it half decent like Marvel)
- The Creeper has barely any screentime.

I saw someone compare it to Troll 2 (1990) though I doubt it'd have the fun factor that one has. Someone else said this film is genuinely the worst film they've ever seen.

The vast majority of featured reviews on IMDB are 1/10s.

WTF that's depressing :(

I was really looking forward to this and was hoping/praying it would do a 180 after the terrible 3rd movie, but it sounds like this sequel is even worse than that (just read the reviews in IMDb and posts in my FB horror groups). I normally cut horror movies a lot of slack and have found decent ones that are rated in the 4-5/10 range, but a 2 something rating means it's just abysmal.

Was gonna watch this on Halloween, but might find something better.

Everyone including reviewers I reliably trust have torched this film. By all accounts it's legitimately woeful.

I never saw the third one but by almost all accounts this film makes that one look like an outright masterpiece.

It's a shame this IP has turned out this way. The first one was a brilliant horror film and the sequel was decent enough but the IP is tarnished due to the directors previous crimes and these films are struggling to get funding because of it, no one worth a damn will touch it. It's similar to Clownhouse, his previous film where the crimes occured. That film won't get an home media release as companies won't touch it with a barge pole. The Jeepers Creepers IP is basically 'cancelled', this film seems to be some small studio trying to make a quick buck of the IP. The production values are supposedly completely atrocious. Like, your local college kids could make a slicker production, bad...real bad.

To borrow a quote from Avatar's Neytiri, "This is sad. Very sad only!"

The 3rd one was indeed a huge letdown after the very good sequel. I even re-watched it earlier this year after remembering very little except for the bad impression it had left when I first saw it, but it was still pretty lame - disjoint themes and plot lines, unnecessary additions to the Creeper's lore, stupid character motivations etc

They could've taken some really creative approaches with the monster, given it has been around for centuries, setting the sequel in an older time (like Prey did with the predator) or covered Trish's possible revenge or something else decent. Instead, looks like they botched it up big time.

The creeper is one of the best monsters from recent years (I also like the alien Calvin from Life) and deserves better. Still find it hard to believe that so many people come together to fuck something up so badly like they do in Hollyweird over and over.

It's incredibly flat.

And of course it also has the mandatory diversity quotas including the ever present interracial couple.

It reminds me EXACTLY of Texas Chainsaw 3D. At least there were things I did like about that movie. Mixing woke and a bad movie is a terrible recipe. Saying that, the first 10-15 mins of this movie (even with the awful green screening and 'CGI') did seem interesting. I actually thought it'd be quite a gritty kind of movie. But after those first 10 mins it went down hill real fast.

So called "minorities" are grossly over represented in movies/shows.

all of those things were what I thought of JC3! That film legitimately felt like it was made for the SyFy channel and had that same level of awful CGI and pacing. this is worse somehow?????

reply

At least with JC3 they actually somewhat stuck to a plot. The setting aesthetics were nice (like not the bad CGI but the scenes with the girl's grandma talking to dead her son (if I remember correctly)), especially in the scenes with the Creeper's hand, and where the crows fly around the Creeper when he goes to find his hand on the hill, and they had the original creeper who at least looked somewhat scary (not as scary as JC1+2, though).

The ending was cool how you found out it was a prequel to JC2, and then the woman from the first movie was right at the end. JC3 definitely had its good points. This one really was 'reborn' into a shitshow.

Just finished watching this. Those reviews are correct so is the word of mouth. This is mind numbingly bad. The creeper doesn't look intimidating at all, there is a lot of green screen in this and bad effects. Most the acting is above averaged despite the very limited resources. Kudos for bearing this one out. Don't watch at all costs.
