Your grade for how Teresa handled Kathy and Rosie?

I caught this past episode and I saw that Teresa actually lost the Watch What Happens poll, 40% to 60% in favor of Kathy and Rosie.

But I have to say I think she handled them well, especially in comparison to how Housewives usually handle these kind of situations. She didn't curse anyone out, she didn't bad-mouth them behind their backs, she was cordial but not fake to their faces and in fact avoided them until they practically begged her to meet. When she met, she was honest but not mean or hurtful. She told them clearly, "you're my family, I love you, but I am not ready to include you in my inner circle again. I have too much going on and I can't deal with anyone who I feel might not mean well." She rightfully called out Kathy's husband who for whatever reason seems to despise her but she stopped the conversation before it devolved into another pizzing match. They left on a decent note: "if you need me, I'm here, but we are not going to be chummy right now." I think that was fair and respectful. And you could tell that even though she seemed somewhat stoic in the meeting, she was still emotional and still cared for them because she cried on the way out.

Honestly, I don't know how much better she could have handled the whole thing. She could have been a lot nastier given that she views her cousins as snakes, but she wasn't. She could have easily escalated the situation, but chose to de-escalate it, similar to the way she handled Jacqueline a few episodes ago. Juxtapose her behavior with how Caroline treated her. She was VICIOUS and hard and merciless! Or how Tamra from OC treated Gretchen back in the day. Or how Shannon treated Vickie. There is a way you can cut off someone in a way that both lets them get the message but doesn't degrade your character. You can be respectful even if you feel the person doesn't deserve it. It's not really about the other person, its' about you. I think Teresa's behavior towards the cousins spoke highly of her character, she has matured A LOT emotionally it seems to me. I give her an A on how she handled the cousins. What grade would you give? Just curious if anyone else saw it the way I did...

I was very impressed with how Teresa handled that. I really like how prison changed Teresa. She seems smarter and more in control of herself, a rarity to see someone on reality TV actually learn and improve themselves. That scene could have spiraled out of control, right off Kathy's voice was getting loud and she was starting to vibrate. Rosie is a loose cannon. I have to say that I actually learned from watching this! Joe is spot on about having to confront people and set them straight when they will not leave you alone. It's great advice that I will use. (I can't believe I am saying Joe Gorga actually taught me a life lesson!). Teresa had to be in an extreme emotional state about her husband leaving soon, then to have to face these stupid cousins..ughh. But that's the price you pay to get a Bravo check I guess. Well done Teresa!

A+. I also loved how she called them out on never reaching out to her when she was in prison, but now that the TV cameras are on...they are all over her. True statement!

reply

Well I thought she handled it well but I thought she came off a little mean. I feel bad for Rosie and Kathy. At the end of the day, they are cousins. They are family. I could never imagine not talking to a member of my family for something so petty. And I don't think Therea's aunt said anything that terrible. She was tellin the truth.

reply

A+++ Never thought much of Teresa, she seemed dumb. The camera ho's Rosie and Kathy were stealthily handed their arses by Tre. She was classy and clear. Me thinks the cameo desperate cousins will continue to lurk by being at Jacq's house or inviting people over to see their house as they did on the last episode.

reply

I don't see how Teresa could have handled it any better. Forgiving does not have to mean including someone in your life. Kathy and Rosie are disgusting in their attempts to coat tail on Teresa's fame.
I will feel no empathy when Kathy and Richie's house goes into foreclosure!

reply

Not a T fan, however, I see the whole thing hurt her and was very difficult and emotional for her and I do not hold to the tenet that blood family needs a special dispensation to behave horridly and then be forgiven just cuz they are family. A toxic person is a toxic person and no one is under duty to make their life toxic and negative cuz it's "fambly".

Kathy is a hypocrite and extremely pass. agg. The entire Kathy and Jacqueline crying-display when the judge passed sentence on T and Joe was BS, fake, fake and fake. No tears, all baloney.

Rosie is a powder keg and throw alcohol on it and boom, off she goes.

I always liked Rosie and Kathy. I stopped watching the show because I hate Teresa.

I was surfing the channels today though and I kind of landed on the show when Jaq was coming in the room. Was she in a fire? What happened to her pretty face?

reply

I can't stand Theresa either. Don't love the cousins, but they are infinitely more intelligent and interesting than Theresa. I don't get why they care, to tell you the truth. I would not be able to stand being around Theresa if she were my relative.

Jaq must have botoxed her face too many times. People like the frozen puppet look these days!

They care because Bravo is not interested in them unless they are part of Teresa's inner circle. That's the crux of why Teresa won't mend things with them- they showed no interest in being close to her when she was in prison, only after she returned to the show did they reach out to her.

reply

Spot on! Their crying and concern was really poorly acted. On the other hand, Teresa's crying in the car after the cousin sit down seemed very real. I doubt it had anything to do with them, but everything to do with Joe's imminent prison stint. Or the frustration of the Catch 22 and selling yourself on reality TV to make a living. I doubt she'd be bothering with the cousin siti down if Andy didn't force her to for her paycheck.
I never thought I would be a Teresa fan after that table flip with Danielle's sweet daughters present. However, I am a sucker for people who change for the better. Prison has been great for her. She looks like and seems like a better person. She is calmer and more serious. I hope Joe will make the most of his time too and get healthier. It might do wonders for his liver alone.

Teresa handled it terribly. I'm not sure what show you all were watching.

Regardless if Kathy and Rosie are fame whores and want to be on the show, they are in fact relatives of Teresa. I still don't know why Teresa wants to cut them out of her life. Teresa preaches about family nonstop, but then pulls this BS? Whatever.

Teresa's error was not being honest with Kathy and Rosie. She gave them lip service and said her door was always open to them. She should have told them I never want to see either of you again. Teresa wimped out and practically sprinted for the car.

reply

D. As usual, no real forgiveness, just lip service and then she still behaves like the budget class, C-List celeb she is.

Family is family -- they reached out, she remained what she is -- an ignorant woman with a false sense of entitlement. So glad she got at least 11 months in jail -- and before anybody brings up the children, what about the children of the people they cheated out of hundreds of thousands by not paying their bills?

Yes, for sure! And speaking of that, what will Theresa say some day when one of her adult children asks her "mom, what about the families of the people you and Dad ripped off? Did you ever consider their kids?"

Why didn't they keep in touch while Teresa was in prison? That would have showed more Amore per la famiglia than waiting until she was home and back on the show. Fact is, Kathy and Rosie are only on the show because of their ties to Teresa. I'm not making excuses for the Guidices- they broke the law and should be punished, but I'm not convinced that some of the other housewives don't commit similar offenses as well. Kathy and Richie were thirsty as hell to show off their new mansion on the show, and who knows how that lifestyle is within their budget.
Kathy and Rosie's mom and Teresa and Joe Gorga's Dad are siblings and I'm pretty sure they are estranged- makes it fairly difficult for their families to be close.

reply

I believe Kathy's husband owns three or four service stations, and she has her food products and catering, plus the show. Also, they seem like straight shooters who pay their taxes and bills.

I agree that there is more than one transgressor on the show, although I do think the Giudices stand out for the level of their willingness to cheat on taxes and business agreements in order to act like they could afford a lifestyle they couldn't. I think the de Laurias aren't far behind, but as Jacqueline has said, they weren't ever arrested. Sued maybe, but no one has had the cuffs slapped on.

If my memory is correct, the original rift in the family between the older generation was due to a business deal gone bad.

Kathy and Rosie have both said that they asked Joe to ask Teresa to put them on the visitors list and when they weren't they figured she didn't want them to come to the prison. And I will take their word any day over Teresa, who alternates between straight out lies and lies caused by her delusional take on her time away at "camp."

reply

I wouldn't hang my hat on the idea that The Wakile's are straight shooters. Richie was sued for not paying a landscaping bill and allegedly threatened the hurt the landscaper if he didn't drop the suit. Richie lost the suit, and his counter suit was dismissed. There was also another lawsuit against Richie and Wakile and sons in which he was ordered to pay Exxon $113,449.56. I don't know the specifics, but Richie did attempt to file bankruptcy to avoid paying the suit.
As far as the family feud involving the elder members of the family, I read that Kathy and Rosie's father offered assistance to Mr Gorga Senior when he immigrated from Italy, and felt salty because the Gorga's had some financial success here, and he felt they owed their success to him....
