Bonnie Not Attending Tyler's Funeral

Imagine the hate Elena would get if she'd missed his funeral to save Damon, yet no one mentions it when Bonnie does. For the record, I don't blame Bonnie for missing the funeral.

reply

Because everybody is in love with Bonnie she can do no wrong. But when Elena does something I remember her getting all the hate. And now people are saying I miss her. I miss her on this board.

reply

Being the center of the show means you get ALL the blame apparently.

haha yeah i've noticed that. people who didn't think they'd miss her do now that she's gone. it's obvious the show doesn't work as well without her.

reply

I give Bonnie a past because while she knew Tyler, I do not think they were exactly close . Bonnie and Tyler didn't have any scenes together until season 3.

Lol. Did you type this with a straight face? This is the funniest thing I've read in a while. Everyone is in love with Bonnie???? Okay...

Elena was obviously a lot closer to Tyler, when Tyler died the first time Bonnie didn't shed a tear too I believe. How many times have Bonnie and Tyler interacted? 2 or 3?

reply

I would say Bonnie was closer to Tyler than Stefan and Alaric. She did grow up with him. He also came out of hiding to attended her funeral

reply

For Caroline, not Bonnie. I think she'd be closer to him than Stefan though as well, Alaric you could make case for I guess, he was his teacher, professor, and his boss the last 3 months for The Armory.

reply

I do not recall Tyler being at Bonnie's funeral?

The one in 5x04

But the show acts like they're all one big happy squad. Matt, Tyler, Bonnie, Caroline, and Elena. So yeah, while Bonnie may not have interacted with Tyler too much, the show never stopped pretending that they were all tight-knit bffs. They all constantly make sacrifices for each other and forgive each other's transgressions.

A rose is just a rose.

reply

I don't know. I think the show hasn't done this very well. People were too isolated from each other for seasons on end. Bonnie was all about Damon for seasons 6-7. When he left she was devastated because she had lost everyone, even though Caroline, Alaric and Matt were still very much in her life at the time.

In season 6 as was mentioned down thread, Tyler deliberately jeopardised the plan to rescue Bonnie from 1994 to protect Liv Parker who he barely knew, who a season ago was one of their antagonists. And in season 3, I remember how strange it was that they were so hellbent on knowing who their Original sire was, so they could kill Klaus even though they all knew that Klaus sired Tyler as a hybrid and he would certainly die if Klaus did.

Did anyone besides Caroline shed a tear for Tyler being banished from Mystic Falls or try to help him get back? That was entirely Tyler's problem and his alone. No one was interested in making any kind of sacrifice to bring him back.

While the Salvatores, Bonnie, Caroline and sometimes Matt have been shown to be close knit and connected, I think they've actually gone out of their way to show that Tyler has always stood on the fringes of that group.

Neither ever had scenes together period that was truly one on one. The least interacted among the main cast.

reply

Tyler came out of hiding from Klaus to go to Bonnie's funeral

reply

Only Caroline, Matt and maybe Bonnie as former class mate should have been there.

Well, they had to make her consumed with Enzo as if he is the only thing and person in her life that matters now.

reply

Enzo is also a much better boyfriend, so that's probably why people are more understanding of Bonnie doing so. I agree with the others in that Tyler and Bonnie never seemed close. I can understand why Tyler would go to hers. She constantly helped everyone. She was very selfless.

reply

Don't see where he is better. And Tyler still attended Bonnie's "funeral". Having a boyfriend doesn't mean that all other points in a woman's life should stop existing or being important. Being the best boyfriend in the world doesn't excuse that from happening.

reply

Tyler only attended Bonnie's funeral to please Caroline. But then the first chance he got he split again.

reply

Maybe if it was Elena's funeral you may have a point

reply

I have a point either way, Making Bonnie consumed with Enzo and only Enzo is not healthy or romantic in anyway. Making her act like she is better off burning trying to save him over preserving herself is not a healthy thing to sell, especially with how some young people watch the show and thinking that, it's okay and the right thing to do to be consumed with one person, to the point of being willing to kill oneself over it and thinking that it's a romantic gesture of love that should be a goal in their real life relationship.

Isolating Bonnie with Enzo, like nothing else matters and people thinking that they should isolate themselves in romantic relationships, like nothing else and no one else matters in life.

reply

How quickly you forget that Tyler deliberately stopped Liv from rescuing Bonnie from the Prison World in season 6.

reply

Bonnie is a poorly written character who the writers don't put much of an effort into so I forgive her. Elena, on the other hand, is a Mary Sue who everyone on the show worships and never gets called out for her crap. The writers probably just didn't think to send Bonnie to Tyler's funeral, she has skipped a LOT of events on this show.

I could be wrong cuz it cold and 6am where I'm at so I could be wrong but...as far as I can remember right now...Enzo is the only person who has not screwed Bonnie over. Yes he sorta did, after he switched off his humanity BUT he only did that to save her. Elena and Caroline have screw her over to benefit themselves. Bonnie has suffered more than anyone on this show, so for her to "*beep* em all" to save the one person who loves her and has done everything for her...GOOD FOR HER!!! I hope Bonnie gets everything she deserves at the end. *beep* Elena

reply

Enzo has screwed Bonnie over in Season 7 for his own gains, when he pistol whipped and drugged her at the Armory. He choked and threatened her to get Stefan to cooperate, so he hasn't been the perfect gentlemen towards her.

reply

i don't believe Elena, Caroline or Matt have screwed Bonnie over

reply

Enzo tried to kill her in S5 to get to Stefan.

reply

I won't go as far as saying *beep* Elena, but thinking Bonnie has ever been treated than Elena is funny as *beep* Bonnie is pretty much the show's punching bag.

Bonnie is excluded from almost everything extracurricular on this show. Before season 7, they always made sure to exclude her from certain events. I'm shocked she went to the prom! So, I'm not shocked at all that Bonnie didn't go to Tyler's funeral, he doesn't own her like others on this show.

My ass may be dumb, but I ain't no dumbass...

reply

Looks like there maybe a Christmas party or dinner that mostly everyone else attends, that Bonnie might miss out on the upcoming episodes as well. Maybe this is also because she is worried somewhere else about saving Enzo.

When Julie Plec was asked about Bonnie missing events before her excuse was "not deliberate" yet Bonnie is still missing events, because she either in trouble somewhere else or having to save the day for someone else. Always some reason that has to be more important so that Bonnie has to miss out on dances/balls/events.

reply

Do you guys ever get tired of finding inane reasons to complain about Bonnie? She is barely on screen! They intentionally limit her screen time with Tyler. Why the *beep* would they have her at his funeral? You act like she's a white character.

reply

You're not understanding the meaning of the post. I'm not complaining about Bonnie. I'm complaining about the hypocrisy and the fact that if it had been Elena people would've blasted her. I get why she stayed to help Enzo.

reply

I am rather surprised jeremy didnt make a surprise return.

reply

More is expected of Elena as THE MAIN character. Since people describe her as so wonderful and worth saving, some fans might question her being absent at Tyler's funeral. You complained about Bonnie not being there; if she had been a white main character she probably would have had screen time with Tyler and would have been at his funeral. That's all I'm saying. Like why would Enzo show up to Tyler's funeral??? XD
