God I love the early seasons. I miss Elena. :(

I miss Elena. Nina was so beautiful and talented. Just her playing Katherine/Elena in the same seen was amazing. And her as Katherine just made me enjoy the show more and root for Katherine even though she was suppose to be the Villain she was a likeable one. Her Chemistry with the brothers were also fun to watch and what made the show as well as the early supernatural stuff they did. The old seasons were great. Once Nina left the whole show died to me. Yes there were some problems and Elena wasn't perfect and neither was Jeremy or the others. But I would rather take those characters then the one's we have now. Anybody want to discuss?

I agree 100 percent. Personally, I think the first four seasons were the best.After that the show went downhill. The show is alright now, but the show was amazing with Nina.

Season Six was pretty good with Kia. Or how do you spell him? I think they should have ended it there. And yeah I actually liked season four despite its flaws.

Miss her too. S7-8 are cheap imitations of S1-6

I try going back and re watching the older seasons because I was like at least I have them. But it hurts knowing where everything is going and what went on behind the scenes where it's unwatchable and makes me sad.

agree on the early seasons being great. seasons 5 thru now still had me watching every week. a few days ago off Netflix I rewatched the Christmas episode from season 4 it was nice seeing Delena again then "oblivion" played as tyler saw bodies of twelve hybrids Klaus killed all by himself. the speech about loneliness Klaus gave to Stefan was sad yet funny because of those hybrid kills

I remember how I started to dislike Delena a bit in season 6 but now I miss it so much. Season 7 and 8 are crap without her and Damon is just annoying as hell especially this season. I love who he used to be not the annoying bitch he is now!

I miss Damon's sarcasm and witty responses with Elena and Stefan in the early seasons when her and Stefan were together.

I don't know, I just find it amusing that everybody "misses" Elena but while she was on the show, the vast majority didn't like her and kept saying she was boring and she always needed saving, etc, etc.

Which would be worse - to live as a monster, or to die as a good man? 

Thank you so much for saying that, I thought I was the only one who noticed that! I was very active on the board up until a couple of years ago and the posts complaining about Elena were countless. As far as I remember the majority did not like her at all for the very reasons you said: she was boring, she needed saving, she was manipulative with the brothers, etc etc. I was really surprised when she left and I started seeing the "I miss Elena" posts. But then a lot of the members that were around back then have disappeared, so that could explain things.

Why can't you people just sit on clouds and play harps like you're supposed to?

I actually liked Elena as well and didn't get what the original members of this board were talking about. I found her better then most teen love interests on shows and more likeable at least the first two seasons. I didn't think she was manipulating them at all. She kept pushing Damon away every time he made a move on her. How is that manipulating?

The only ones who dudb't like Elena were Stelena fans,when she dumped him for Damon.Elena was always a very popular character

I am a huge Elena fan, I love her warts and all. I also love Damon hence why I enjoy DE. I love her courage, her warmth, her passion and her commitment to doing whatever it takes to save and protect the people she cares about. She is not perfect, she has flaws and has moments when she is utterly selfish but she is/was human and nobody is perfect.
Her huge heart, capacity to love and forgive are qualities that are rootable for and I root for her to be happy.

I think Elena is capable of manipulation and she has demonstrated that she can and does manipulate people and situations to gain an advantage but she does it using her natural compassion and empathy and it's usually done to to benefit someone else.Elena see's people, she has the emotional intelligence to read them and that includes villains and friends alike. She holds an intense loyalty towards her friends and loved ones and she will do anything for them even if it makes her the "bad guy". Elena is very much like Damon in that way and she will admit it like she did to Jeremy.

This young woman is a warrior. She is a girl that has lost so much, seen so much, changed so much, and even changed species twice and she yet she survives, somehow. Through sheer will and determination she has fought long and hard and she will get her HEA, i'm positive of that. Go Elena Gilbert.

I love Elena, and even after the Delena nonsense, I still loved her because I recognized that her real character had been sanded down to accommodate Damon, like everyone else's on this show.

The only people that hate her are fans of rival ships like Bamon.
