This is what Lara should look like

In video games, animated shows, and especially live action:

She has the perfect voluptuous body.

She doesn’t look like an anorexic 12-year old (Alicia Vikander).

Or a male bouncer who decided to transition to a woman (this series).

reply

Oh yes

'She has the perfect voluptuous body.'

You know we're not allowed to like women like that! It's evil of us!

reply

I’m a rebel. 😊

reply

Respect! 👍

reply

Clearly Sydney Sweeney is currently the only actress qualified to play her.

reply

Too short. Croft is 5’9”.

And her being the only one isn’t even close to being true.

Check out Jessica Green: https://www.girlsinyogapants.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/jessica-green-4-10.jpg

And there are several unkown actresses out there who’d have the right look.

Angelina Jolie is not that tall either, actually few women are that tall, not a lot of models are that tall.

Rather than matching height, charisma I think is a lot more important.

How many times have you heard people say the most important characterisation of Croft's appearance is tall?

Jessica Green does not have the face of leading actress, IMHO.

reply

Sure she does.

And you don’t know how many tall actresses are out there.

Or how charismatic Green is.

The way casting an adapted character should work (but doesn’t happen enough for some ridiculous reason) is you find actresses who are as close as possible to the facial features and physique of the character.

Then you choose the best actor from that group.

Not doing so is just stupid and has never made sense.

You don’t just grab some short blonde with big boobs just because you know who she is.

That’s lazy, inaccurate casting.

Andrew have too many short women trying to pass themselves off as tough action heroes and failing as it is.

reply

Well, that is what movies studios do, that is why famous actors get more roles, not because they are the best fit for the roles, but they have fans.

Using unnamed actors is always a risky move.

reply

People don’t see movies just because they have famous actors anymore.

But you could always cast an unknown as Lara and cast known actors in secondary roles.

reply

I beg to differ, if the new gladiator 2 movie did not have Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal in it, only a guy you never heard of, like Paul Mescal.

Would you feel the same about it?

I mean honestly.

Do you even believe there was an important black guy in ancient Rome?
