It actually ended perfectly. You see, this film is called "Prisoners". Keller got what he deserved. He kidnapped and tortured an innocent man who was a victim himself before Keller. You see, if Keller was found, reunited with his family and goes back to living a happy life, it would've made all that kidnapping, tormenting and torturing justified. The end leaves you in a tight spot into thinking, "So does this mean Keller is now a prisoner himself, just in a different way?"
shareI agree the ending works fine.An is the correct ending for the film. But i dont agree with any of the people who say that the cops character having heard the obvious sounds from the ground would leave the scene unchecked.Thats just stupid. The only logical thing that could happen at the end of this film is the cops check the spot an get him out an he goes to jail.To me there is no other way in any realistic since this film could go
shareKeller was always a prisoner (mentally) since he and his family wouldn't be able to move on until they found the daughter, or the body of the daughter.
shareThe reply was perfect and not blatantly boiled down to simplest possible form for lowest common denominators like you.
shareIt wasn't open-ended. He finds him. We don't need to see it. He dismissed the first sound but clearly hears it two more times. And one other thing that I haven't seen responders mention is the sound of the wood cover being pulled away as the last sound we hear before the credits music. So, he'll be found and will be trading up one dark moist prison for another.
