Why are they towing the fuel pod?

What's it for? I get that it's to trade to the bmx bandits in the gorge, but what's the justification for it when they are leaving the base?

The ammo factory camp probably needed fuel.

But fuel isn't produced at Immortan Joe's camp. Wouldn't the bullet farm get their fuel from the other guy, the one who makes it?

It would be perfectly sensible if they were taking an empty fuel pod to get filled up, but what's the justification for a full one?

Pretty easy to surmise Joe would insist on dispensing fuel himself simply as one more means of maintaining control through dependency.

Because if they didn't, nearly all the resemblance to the truck chase scene from Road Warrior / Mad Max 2 would be lost.
