So this film was aimed at....

11 to 15 year old girls, right?

Possibly.

Problem?

Definitely, and no problem. Just wanted to clarify.

Well, I say 'possibly' because it's based on a YA novel. The core audience for YA novels is typically within an age range of about 12-18. So 11-15 is perhaps a little too narrow an age range for the film. I'd imagine that's not far off the intended core demographic though.

Also, I have no idea if it was aimed specifically at girls. I can well imagine it would appeal more to girls within that age range than boys within that age range. And I'd further imagine the filmmakers were aware of that. But whether that was the aim or not, is a different matter.

I'd imagine the aim was to make it appeal as widely as possible while understanding who its core audience was likely to be.

Definitely aimed at girls from age 11 to 15.

Yeah and as an adult male I wish I would have known that at the time. Before I put two hours of my life into it. My fault for not doing my homework on it I suppose.

LOL I think I even gave the second one a look as well! IIRC it was basically the same film again. No way in hell did I bother with the third film.

Slightly bizarre combination of super hyped kids film with adult actors in a battle royale situation.

I only watched it because I had previously watch Squid Game and Battle Royale. They're similar films, and I was curious. I didn't bother to watch #2 or #3.

Yeah I loved Battle Royale. Apparently there's four films in the Hunger Games "trilogy" (part 3 was split into two) so that's an extra one I dodged.

One Hunger Games was enough for me. I think that's one of the reasons Battle Royale was so good. They didn't water it down with sequels.
