I’d have checked out the first episode or two to see if it’s worth continuing.
But if it’s going to be more woke fanfic, I won’t bother.
What difference would it make if one of the characters was a different race? If they are a good actor, how does it lessen or harm the series?

Which means they don’t give a damn about the source material.

Their attitude is they’re taking one of the most popular book series in the world and making major changes for no reason at all except to pander to a small audience.
Billions of people of different races and gender have loved the books for decades and no one complained about the main characters being white.
So why change them now?
Producers even previously announced that they were going to be more accurate to the books.
