so, I am 5 episodes in now

And I still don't understand why Rebecca couldn't be with Matheus. It's not like anybody knows the exact time or circumstances of their meeting (well, other than James and Damien, who would have kept her secret anyway) - couldn't they just fudge the timeline a bit for the public?.. πŸ™„

I totally agree with you. I finished the whole season last night. Acting is bad and there are a lot of plot holes in my opinion. The one you're referring to is only one of the many. But overall it's a good show. I wouldn't have finished if it wasn't.. haha...
I don't know if you watched the rest of it, so I won't say anything. But she makes a decision about Matheus towards the end. ;)

Yes, I watched the whole thing.

The show was definitely marred by stupidity, but it was an interesting concept overall.

Like when they are hiding Matheus from the police, and then the inspector just calls him on the phone - facepalm! πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ™„

And how would the DI even have his number handy? He is a foreign national!

But you are right, there was a multitude of things like that.

I think she got his number from his brother's phone.

This is a show with an interesting premise but played out like all the B list offerings on Netflix. Uneven acting, loose ends, illogical plot elements.

I haven't finished it yet, but yes, it doesn't really make sense. I guess she can't be with him because she pulled his name from the medical database that she stole and that would link him with her and therefore the dead guy because they were all at the party the one night?

So far I have found it entertaining and the acting is fine. Nothing superb or terrible imo.

Yes, but like I said, it's not like the rest of the world has any way of knowing when exactly she met the guy and whether she had legitimate access to the database at the time. All of this could have been easily covered up!

I agree, it's pretty thin!

It wouldn't be hard for someone to find out when they started dating. She would have to worry about a reporter or private eye looking into their relationship. They would be able to find someone who had seen them together or track her digital foot print or some other way.. Obviously if this happened, the business would be ruined and she would go to jail.

That all being said, the entire premise of the show is ridiculous and full of plot holes. I still liked the show. I don't mind absurd things in tv shows or movies. They aren't supposed to be real life. Sons of anarchy had a gun battle just about every show. The police would rarely show up.

The series opens with her giving a huge, well publicized promotional event with her fake β€œThe One” match. The whole pitch is that there is only ONE true match. For her to be with Matheus she’d have to admit to lying at all these events. She’s basically the Steve Jobs of matchmaking at this point. She could have waited for Matheus to make up his mind about moving to London, but she needed to use herself as a promotional story to sell the product.

But I agree the series is full of plotholes. I finished it 2 weeks ago and already forgot almost everything else about it. Netflix has too many of these mediocre miniseries.
