Which subplot was more terrible?

1. Joker-Harley love Angle.
2. Natasha-Hulk love Angle.

reply

Both are terrible. But the Joker-Harley thing, was more terrible. Not true to the Comics.

reply

You are correct. Both are. However, I cannot believe that while you have been a defender of this movie, you have the courage to go against it in this matter. Hat off!

I think 20% is pretty generous. Not that it really matters either way.

reply

I really don't buy this argument. The COmics aren't True to the COics. There are multipel interpretations and coninuities. WHile I can appriciate disliking certain reimaginings, especially if it alters a core principel fo the CHaracter, the idea that Joker and Harley have to have only an abusive Relationship, and the Joker absolutley canot Love her is silly.

reply

Actually it is true to the comics

Hulk/Natasha isn't true to the comics and completely made up

The most evil thing done in this movie is when Harley stole something

Yeah, I mean burning people alive, eating people, machine gunning people down, etc.

All that is small potatoes, its stealing a cheap handbag, that's what they strap you to the electric chair for.

reply

[deleted]

All stuff we have seen in plenty of movies before

So? Writers have been doing all that stuff before movies. I really doubt anyone could come up with an evil deed that no one has thought of before.

In several thousand years, mankind has proven to be pretty awful.

& they were more anti hero instead of outright bad guys

Well yeah, that's kind of the point of the movie and the series its based upon.

reply

I'll go for number two.

Joker and Harley being together, has to happen in some form or other if both characters exist in the same medium.

That's how the comics go, having them be independent of each other honestly would be weird. Their very origins are tied together.

Natasha and Bruce suddenly being so deeply in love was just included cause Joss Whedon loves the "Beauty and Beast" dynamic, but wasn't interested in giving it any build up or explanation.

Natasha/Hulk. It came totally out of left-field.

Not to anyone who pays attention.

Uh oh spaghettios - Zack Snyder, David Ayer, Bryan Singer (2016)

reply

What is their to pay attention to?

Movie One, they barely interact. He intentionally terrifies her once, and then almost kills her leaving her clearly terrified and uncomfortable afterwards.

Movie two, the two are so hopelessly in love she can calm down the Hulk merely by being there (something Betty never could), and feels ashamed at the fact she can't carry his child.

Forgive me, but what were we supposed to be paying attention to?

reply

Pretty ladies can always calm the Hulk down.

Uh oh spaghettios - Zack Snyder, David Ayer, Bryan Singer (2016)

To the point he stops dead and reverts back to human?

reply

The battle was nearly over both times we see her do it. He was probably becoming less angry.

Still feels a bit hard to believe their emotional bond is that strong.

Especially considering how little build up it got.

reply

I actually agree with this.

I've baited my hook with my own underwear. Is it wrong that I hope to catch a fish I can relate to?-Ragdoll.

reply

Really? After "love is for children" and so on from Natasha I was totally not expecting it.

2. Natasha-Hulk love Angle.
Better than anything in the DCEU.

Really?

So to be clear your saying on single unexplained, unearned and impossible to support romance that came out of nowhere, served no real purpose, and at the end of the day was disliked by everyone down to the actors themselves, was absolutely better than everything over the course of three films?

Are yes, nothing says love more than purposely scaring someone to the point they nearly sick an army of goons on you.

You can.

I just see a dismissive flick of the eyes.

Reguardless even you have to admit its a bit of jump to go from squint and you might see a drop or two fliting, to being deeply in love with each other.

Well clearly some time has passed between Avengers 1 and 2, so I would assume they got to know and understand each other a bit better in between the two movies.

Possibly, but not in the way your thinking.

I can understand that.

The problem is as we didn't see the development, it makes it appear left field.

Its difficult to care about a relationship without any explanation for how it came about, or any demonstration of why it exits.

All the movie does is tell us there deeply in love, it never explains how, why or what. Their scenes together likewise are so deep in telling us their in love, that the little evidence we see feels unearned.

Thus its virtually impossible to support it or see it as a true romance.

I agree that it would have been nice to see the development, but it didn't really bother me that much.

They both bring each other back to the main fight in the third act. That's pretty cool imo.

Well it did with me (and quite a few others) now to be fair I think their relationship could have worked. Okay the age difference is a bit noticeable, but you can get around that.

The problem is they jumped into far, they should have been just starting their relationship during the movie, say having just started dating a few weeks earlier, still dealing with all the worries, concerns and awkward moments that come with it.

Instead they jumped forward to the point they were so in love the two had already accepted they would die together.

Which due to their limited interactions (around three I think, with one really not going well) in the last movie, made it feel to soon and unearned.

They both bring each other back to the main fight in the third act. That's pretty cool imo.

That is true. But couldn't any other team member have done that?
