Enough with the zombie craze...

Seriously! After The Walking Dead premiered, it seems like the only horror movies we get now are with zombies... It's been done to death (pun intended). I mean, I like zombie flicks, if they're done well, but it seems like it's always the same now. And it's quickly getting boring. The horror genre is my favorite genre of movies, and I watch all the "hidden gems" that the mainstream audience completely ignores. Many of those movies, are actually really well made and it's not just cliché after cliché, so it's a shame that the old school isn't more popular. I'm not just talking about slasher flicks, but great scary movies with or without gore, doesn't matter, as long as it's well made. The only "scary" flicks the mainstream audience likes, seems to be Paranormal Activity, The Conjuring and then all the zombie flicks... It's a real shame that people only wants to watch those kind of mediocre movies, instead of the really good ones, that deserves more recognition than they get.

Just look at what we've gotten over the past 10 years: We have a World War with zombies, a family drama with zombies, a rom-com with zombies, hundreds of video games with zombies, an Abraham Lincoln movie with zombies and now we get a Jane Austin novel with god damn zombies!

It doesn't even fit with the theme of the story... I haven't read the book, but I'm familiar with the story.

I mean what's next? Peter Pan with zombies? Winnie the Pooh with zombies? Frozen with zombies? Avengers with zombies? Batman with zombies?!? My head just hurts with the thought of it... Why does Hollywood always have to milk everything till death...

Frozen with Zombies, what a cool idea, Peter Pan with Zombies, awesome. In an effort to save Neverland Hook and Pan must join forces to defeat the evil Zombie hoard terrorizing London, can Peter Save Wendy in time. The lost boys will grow up sooner than they expected.

I agree with everything you said in your statement. Its getting a little out of hand.

Vampires and zombies. Vampires and zombies. You should be used to it by now.
You don't have to watch them. Just be glad there are literally 100s of other films to watch. In the next few years, there will be about 10 or 20 Hollywood movies about vampires or zombies. Just ignore those films and watch the others.

I totally agree, but I have to say that I think iZombie is totally fun and not a typical zombie show. And Warm Bodies was sweet. That's all I got.

Because Hollywood is only in it for the money ... !!!

Winnie the Pooh with zombies?

Damn you, i can't stop thinking about zombie Winnie chasing down Christopher Robin. I for one would love to see a zombie Tigger or Piglet.

As far as i am concerned, there can never be enough zombie movies. Be they bad or be they good i love them all. Movies etc are like fashion, the same formula reappears every few years. When the world appears to be turning to crap around you, people's choice of entertainment changes. If life is good they can handle gritty drama and near the knuckle realism. When things are bad they look for escape into fantasy realms. Who wants reality in their entertainment, when reality sucks.

If Disney does happen to peruse this thread. The trailer for Zombie Winnie should have "Winnie the Poo no longer wishes for honey in his tummy, he wants BRAINSSSSS."

Off-topic on purpose.

I like watching horror movies occasionally, but I find it hard to find the good ones. Since you said you like horror movies and you mentioned about "hidden gems", I wonder if we share similar taste. Could you share those movies you consider interesting? I've ran out of list, but I want to watch some horror.

What I consider as a good horror is those which don't rely on jumpscares, but more on building atmosphere; creepy disturbing instead of plainly scary; and if there's any gore, I want it relevant to the plot.

I kinda like Grave Encounters, Rec (I), Blair Witch. They are the only "documentaries" I consider good enough, with each of their own flaws. I also like Exorcist, Sinister (I love the first half, but it was anticlimatic), The Mist, The Descent.

I don't like Final Destination series, SAW besides the first one, and I guess, most of the "serial killer" types. I think they are silly.

Actually, if you also have movies with dark theme, not necessarily horror, I'd like them too. I like Anti-Christ for instance. It was so depressing and unsettling.

Thanks, and cheers! :)
