Feminism was not what was wrong with WW84. Nearly every other aspect of the movie was what was wrong. It was aggressively stupid. Another comic book movie made by those whom say things like "whatever, it's just a comic book" and "like anyone knows how fast jets fly, pshaw!"
The WW movies can actually be vehicles for healthy feminism (as opposed to some destructive versions). I simply want well written, well made movies regardless of their ideological foundation.
I think all of us wanted a well written Wonder Woman movie. Even using the basic plot of a fisher price audio book with the cheetah and significantly expanding on that/elaborating it for the big screen could have potentially worked.
Patty just got caught up in the lights etc of the first movie and forgot to make a sequel which actually made coherent sense to audiences. She was hoping we would not notice because of the pandemic.

I'm betting that Patty had never read a comic book before getting hired for the first one. She did a good job on WW1 because she coincidentally made a decent World War One movie. In the sequel, I believe that she was actually making an effort to be what she considered "comic book." This was a window into how she views the source material. Did she only read Gold and Silver age comics?
I don't like the Burton Batman movies. They were ultra stupid as well. Did she see them as a template of the era? Dumb-chic?
I don't think it was a issue of comic book vs not comic book--she was just trying to out do herself. Bad idea.
sharemany OTHER people wrote the first one. She mostly wrote the 2nd one.
I know a fervent feminist who says WW84 is the best movie ever for how it portrays the oppressive patriarchy, women's power blah blah blah... and maybe that is true, but the movie SUCKED!!!
They are welcome to spread feminism all they want, provided the vehicle for that - a MOVIE - is great and entertaining. I loved the 1st WW, hated the second. I'll skip this, since Patty is writing again, and wait a LONG WHILE until the reviews decide if it entertains or just plods more femimessage.
What about nudity? Will that save it?
