Why was it so easy to take over Jabba's crime empire?

They just walked into his palace and shot him, then sat on the throne. Does it really work that way? How had Jabba survived so long? Any of his enemies could just shoot him and sit in his throne, and they are the boss now? This seems to be incredibly childish writing.
Everyone just accepts this? No one wants retribution? Jabba didn't have a deputy? It all feels a bit silly.

All of Jabbas friends and potential usurpers (bar Bib Fortuna) got blown up in ROTJ. Boba was able to sneak in and take out Bib because he was thought dead too.

Fortuna seems to have just been keeping things ticking over since the end of the Empire. But with much less strength and dominance as Jabba (hence the gang that plundered Vanth’s community in Mando and the killed that homesteader in this show) Seems like there has been no one group strong enough or bold enough to take over everything by themselves

Were did the rest of the Huts go?

In the decades following the defeat of the Empire and the rise of the New Republic, the Hutt families saw much of their once great power and influence wane, even losing control of the Nikto, a race that had been in service to the Hutts for centuries prior. Coupled with the Galactic Empire's collapse, Jabba's death left enormous power vacuums in the Kessel spice trade as well, triggering widespread gang warfare and leaving trade routes once guarded by mercenaries hired by the Hutts vulnerable, leading to the formation of the Spice Runners of Kijimi.

Several years after Jabba's death, Boba Fett returned to his palace and killed Bib Fortuna, assuming Jabba's former throne and control over the remaining Hutt clans left in the galaxy.

so, Tatooine was under-going a de-Huttification?

Control over the remaining Hutt clans???

Okay, killing Fortuna and sitting on Jabba's throne may give him an edge in taking over the underworld of Tattooine, but he's going to have to fight for control of every little rinky-dink city and spaceport, nobody's going to just turn control over to him unless he strikes absolute terror into the heart of every gang and and warlord in the sector... and they don't make TV shows about people who are willing to do that.

Honestly, subduing Tattooine might take him the rest of his life, while the offworld Hutt clans can prepared to take out this upstart back on Tattooine...

There were no other Hutts in any movie or live action spin off. There was one seen in episode 1 that may have been Jabba's wife and that's it.

As far as we know Jabba was the last of the Hutts.

If the EU told people that there were Huttese crimelords all over the place and they feel that's important then that's too bad for them. Most people don't know and/or don't care.

reply

THere were several Hutts in THe Clone Wars, so you are wrong

reply

Yeah, Nal Hutta is home of the hutts too and they're still around.

reply

um yeah...we saw two of them in the last episode.

reply

The Clone Wars isn't live action.
