So what was the point of the Bobcat?
Minor spoilers.
So before their kids graduation, Julianne Moore's character is having a morning hunt, where it was assumed that she was hunting quail that she takes back to cook for dinner. However in this strange scene, she fixates on a Bobcat. We never get to see if she shoots it but it's implied that she did or at least was thinking about it.
So what was the point? To drive home that she's a literal predator that goes hunting, preying on any wild animal she comes across? If so, it was so on-the-nose in hindsight.
