Insulted my intelligence (spoilers)

We are to believe:

1. Mazur is allowed to bring his AUNT into his undercover work, on a case dealing with the Medellin cartel

2. Mazur gets a bloody coffin at his actual house, and assumes it is from Escobar. That would mean that Mazur's cover has been blown, and that he and his family are in immediate jeopardy. So what does he do? Continue the operation as if nothing has happened.

3.Mazur's cover is that he's an Italian mob guy. Italian mob guys are not going to allow themselves to be tied up, blindfolded and driven someplace just to "do business".

4. Alcaino and his wife meet Mazur and his wife, and are suddenly the best of friends after one visit? This from a guy who says how important "trust" is?

5. Mazur almost gets his head blown off at the Santaria shrine, but he lucked out (we are not told why), and he continues his undercover op as if that didn't happen, filled with as much swagger as at first. He spends the rest of the film trying to shake the hand of the guy who was there who saw him on his knees. What?

6. Ospina sees the open briefcase of the recording equipment, but only whispers to Mazur that he "broke his heart". Instead of this blowing Mazur's cover, resulting in Mazur's quick death, it is Ospina who gets whacked in the nightclub, because he was "annoying".

7. Mazur slowly figures out one of the men he's dealing with is Escobar, as if Escobar was some mysterious figure. In fact, Escobar's image was ubiquitous, he ran for office in Colombia, and certainly every operative would know exactly what he looked like. Worse, the guy playing Escobar looked nothing like Pablo.

8. Alcaino tells Mazur he should have taken Seal's ring when he had the chance, which means that Alcaino knew that the informant was hanging out with Mazur. But again, Mazur's cover is not blown.

9. The big bust happens at the wedding. Why? Was that the purpose of the wedding--to gather Alcaino and the rest in one room to arrest them? Unless they brought kilos of coke to the wedding, the could have been quietly arrested at any time. It was just gratuitous sensationalism to have the big bust happen at the wedding, just so the betrayed Alcaino can stare at Mazur.

I hope Mazur's book does not include these implausibilities, otherwise I would have to seriously question the truth of his story.

1. I'll give you that. It was ridiculous.

2. It wasn't delivered to his home. Pay attention He picked it up at the safety deposit box and took it home leaving it on the sideboard. What I don't see as being acceptable was that it only started dripping after he got it home but it was only done like that to link a bit of a scare to the family so the daughter to could involved.

3. I'm pretty sure that that does happen a lot when people (even of reputation) are taken to the likes of a drug cartels hideaway.

4. It's a film. Were they meant to show us 10 or 20 meetings of the same time or are we to suspend a bit of belief in order for it not to be 4 hours long?

5. Why would you need to be told why? It's clear that luck plays parts in many undercover operations and that backwards religious weirdos like those operating in the drug cartel still belief in sky wizards and all sorts of nuttery.

6. It's not 100% clear (real life facts) whether Ospina saw the recording equipment or if he knew what it was for / who Mazur was. He maybe thought something was up but wasn't clear enough on it all...and the picture he drew of the case in the nightclub wasn't shown long enough for us all to form an opinion on whether he had sussed it all out.

7. The guy playing Escobar in this looked more like him that Wagner Moura did in Narcos. Again, IRL, when this was happening, they didn't know who the big boss was at the time of the start of the investigation.

8. Alcaino didn't know what the reasons for Mazur dealing with the Seal was. Could have been that he was working for him laundering money. Maybe a bit of a mistake on his part.

9. They explained in the film why it was at the wedding. The female boss wanted a big play of things and cameras et al to show the US being great at dealing with the king pins of the operations. Of course it was gratuitous sensationalism...it's a Hollywood film.

2 or so out of 9 worth considering. Must do better.

Good response, pretty much summed up what I was thinking when reading the OP.
