Did the husband cheat?

There's nothing in the film that can definitively answer this question. I'm surprised by the seeming consensus that he didn't sleep with Chloe - or Miranda or anyone else. I think his behavior throughout is characteristic of a cheating husband. Besides, I'm not sure that he could have resisted Chloe. She knows the kind of power she has over men and uses it purposely to seduce the son.
David's attitude toward Catherine at the beginning isn't anything like the way a faithful husband behaves toward his wife and lover. He's uncomfortable just being in her presence.
I think Catherin's assertion at the end that he didn't cheat with Chloe is an attempt on her part to salvage this picture she has of her marriage, to create an agreement that what's obviously so isn't so.

How about the reference to Don Giovanni? The title character was a notorious seducer of women!

Yes.
Same with the ending!
They are on separate ends of the room, and neither one attempts to cross the distance between. Not the body language of a couple that are in love.

Reg-Australia writes: "...in terms of character Chloe is Don Giovanni!"
It's good that you know so much about Mozart, but you forget that it is David who expresses admiration for Don Giovanni.
"if Egoyan wanted to suggest the husband was unfaithful he wouldn't have done it in such a restrictive way..."
I beg your pardon, but Egoyan is known for leaving out key pieces of information in his films. It is part of his non-linear story telling.
"...that may or may not be of relevance."
Again, sorry, but allegory always trumps the literal level of a story. That's just the way it is. The symbolic contains the essential element. (When Jesus spoke the parable of the Sower, he wasn't really talking about a farmer and his seeds; when Orwell wrote Animal Farm, he wasn't really writing about a barnyard.)
"so let it be!"
Egoyan has expressed admiration for Pier Paolo Pasolini's Teorema (once during at interview to promote Chloe), I think that Chloe is a spiritual remake of that film: Look it up!

It was a weak film. Everything was too obvious. Whatever I thought what was gonna happen a few minutes later it happened. We have seen this a million times.

Nah! Believe him. Don't fall for the suggestion of the text and pic on the phone. Miranda was just gushing because SHE had a crush on her professor. David knew very well about the SURPRISE Bday party and wanted nothing to do with it. He said that over and over. Like him, I do not wish to be as old as I am and tell my friends not to make anything of my birth date.

Don't believe him!
When David expresses admiration for Don Giovanni, it means something!
In fact, the script even says that there is a secret between Catherine and David at the end. What secret? She confesses to her affair with Chloe. The secret is that David cheated, and Chloe knew this.

we live in 2014 women and man has been seen different person in the back of their partner since the beginning of time, i believe being honest to your partner is the only way only advice can be given is to wear condom.
shareno, he only had a drink with her! (the student at the beginning)
as he said he has been tempted but never cheated!
"as he said he has been tempted but never cheated!"
He lied.
Notice two things about this:
1) David almost always interacts with Catherine at night, in the dark.
All of Chloe's meetings with Catherine are in the day. Even in the dark, Chloe always has a light near her, often by her head.
Light and dark: very simple symbolism.
2) David, in his lecture, expresses admiration for Don Giovanni, a notorious seducer of women. In fact, Don Giovanni refuses to repent for his sins and is dragged down to hell.
Eternal Damnation: very bad symbolism.

So Chloe's plan was to seduce Catherine all along?

Remember, in the beginning when Chloe, in her VO, says that she knows what the client wants even if the client doesn't say?
Catherine was looking for love, and Chloe gave it...
