Best trilogy ever

Go argue with Christopher Nolan if you disagree..

Silence of the Lambs - Hannibal - Red Dragon

Nah.

Shit it's not even the best Batman trilogy.

Batman, Batman Returns & Batman Forever > Christopher Nolans attempts. I'm serious.

Batman > Batman Begins. Batman Returns > The Dark Knight and finally Batman Forever and The Dark Knight Rises tie out.

The continuity of Gotham city from Batman Begins to The Dark Knight is ridiculous. Then the recasting of Rachel is another continuity issue. The Lord of the Rings' is the best trilogy, a big bonus it gets is the continuity is flawless.

Here are other trilogies to keep in mind alongside what the other poster mentioned (The Hannibal trilogy).

- The Lord of the Rings
- The original Star Wars trilogy
- The Godfather
- A Fistfull of Dollars. For a Few Dollars More. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.
- Back to the Future
- Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
- Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead
- The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness
- The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
- Alien, Aliens, Alien 3
- The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum

Granted a number of these trilogies have a weak link, Alien and Terminator are examples where the first two films are brilliant with relatively weaker third entries. But still Alien & Aliens > any of the Dark Knight films and Alien 3 can draw out against the likes of TDKR and BB.

You forgot about the Naked Gun trilogy

Lord of the Rings isn’t a trilogy and Last Crusade was garbage.

I agree The Dark Knight is the greatest trilogy ever followed closely by the OT Star Wars

I prefer the Burton Bat-films to Nolan's, too, although I do love BB and TDK. I was also disappointed by the un-Gothic-ing of Gotham from the first to the second film. Contrariwise, I prefer Gyllenhaal as Rachel, so I was not sorry at all to see that replacement. It's not much of a continuity issue to me; actors get replaced from time to time. Sometimes it works (James Bond) sometimes it's explained in-universe (Doctor Who), and sometimes not. I thought it work with the Dark Knight Trilogy.

As for continuity, to be fair, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy was shot back-to-back-to-back (excepting reshoots), so continuity would generally be easier.

With trilogies, I've heard that the Before Sunset trilogy is awesome, but I haven't seen it. For my personal "best ever trilogy" vote, I'd go with The Three Colours Trilogy (Red, Blue, White). They're spectacular.

Troll and Nolan fanboy. Try watching some real movies, instead of Dark Knight

reply

I guess I would agree.
Spiderman was close, but Spiderman 3 was dreadful.
Iron Man started strong but IM2 and IM3 couldn't keep pace.
Captain America could have had a good trilogy but they brought in too many other characters.

The original Star Wars was a great trilogy of course. The sequels and the prequels, not so much.

It may be the best batman trilogy, but that's a low bar.

Batman Begins was cool. The ending wasn't great.
The Dark Knight had a great performance from Ledger, but it's a nonsense movie.
The Dark Knight Rises has Bane. Most of the movie is pretty lame.

They're still better Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, but that's not saying much. Those movies were toy commercials.

All 3 films were great and what I love about the trilogy is it starts out strong and only gets better.

Don’t listen to the man baby haters, this trilogy is hands down the greatest trilogy ever made.
