Worst movie of the three....

Just finished watching this one.

The first movie was the best with the odd characters, the edgy uncomfortable backhistory, and the unsettling mysterious conspiracy you just didn't know where it was going to end up. No, I hadn't read the books.

The first movie could stand on its own, easily.

The second movie expanded things a bit, but couldn't be quite as shocking or new because you already knew the main characters. Still a good story and movie; just not as good as the first.

Now this third movie - with all the hype purporting to tie everything up neatly, etc. Other than a few scenes, it just seemed uneven - dull in parts, jerking along, always waiting for the drama/action to start (which it rarely did), and oh yes, I suppose it did tie up the main threads but it was rather a dullish conclusion.

Not a "bad" movie as really bad movies go, just the weak sister in this trilogy.

i agree. Also the scene when the blonde tough guy disarms the polis at the start was so lame. The male cop had a upper hand to fire from the distance but the tough guy captures and kills him so unrealistically. He reminds me of the russian assasin in a Bond movie.

I agree, it was disappointing. I think the worst thing is that there was no real explanation to what the conspiracy, the Section, was and why they wanted to protect their secrets so passionately and brutally. Was it really just about one Soviet spy and the actions (especially against Lisbeth) to protect him? Why?

The course of the trial was odd, even absurd. It could make more sense if I watched it again and gave sufficient thought to it – maybe it was relevant that crucial evidence was not collected until during the trial. But they had Lisbeth’s recording, right? If the issue with it was to get her permission to show it, this wasn’t presented well.

Agreed, the third movie is the worst.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)

I liked 1st the best but I liked 3rd better then 2nd!

I don't like the word "worst" but it was definitely the weakest of the three - although still pretty good. To me it seemed like everything was a little too convenient. Like her half-brother getting away too easily (if someone is considered armed and dangerous, the police should approach a person fitting his description with guns ready). Also, Micke getting all the information she needed just in the nick of time and everybody just automatically believing the psychiatrist.

But other than that, I enjoyed it. I hate that its over, but now I plan on reading the books!

I couldn't have put it better myself! Agree almost completely except for the fact that I do think this was a BAD movie!

Agreed. The theatrical version plods and is choppy. The trilogy version plods and adds too many extraneous characters, completely loosing sight of the sex slavery subplot. Worse, the Mikel/Lisbeth/Young Doctor triangle and the reason for the "dragon tatoo" remains unresolved (probably for purely commercial reasons). I am guessing the reason for the large dragon tatoo was to cover up bedsore scars from Lisbeth long periods of restraint. Perhaps, I have seen too many "Hollywood" movies, but it seems clear that Lisbeth will "end up" with the young doctor. Of course, this is really not important; what is important is Lisbeth's reconnection with humanity, which is clear. I do hope "...Hornet's Nest" is not the end of the "Millenium" series.
