Was Omar a moral person?

In his mind what he did was justifiable, he was prepared to give up his own life to try and change what he felt was happening in Iraq and Afghanistan. Was he evil, misguided maybe? Looking at 7/7 what made a family man decide to sacrifice everything to kill innocent people? The one guarantee is that it wasn't brainwashing. He came to a clear and reasoned decision (in his own mind)that it was the right thing to do.

Moral?
No, he was a lunatic, evil Islamist who wished to bend everyone towards their death cult, I hope they all burn in cinematic hell.

I choose to believe what my religion programs me to believe.

He was absolutely a moral person. His morals were awful. To most people they'd be considered immoral. But immorality is still morality. The two things are not opposites. The opposite of moral would be ammoral - to have no morals at all. People who do things that are immoral are often accused of being ammoral, because what they believe isn't recognised as moral by the, ahem, moral majority. In many ways, he's the most moral of the bunch. He has very definite ideas of what is right and wrong. I don't think the other characters do. They were just looking for something to belong to, or, in Barry's case, an outlet for their anger.

He was lying to himself about being moral. A moral person would't kill innocents and leave behind a wife and son

The son is just an infant.
